Youth Ministry Network Online
November 2 at 12 P.M. by Zoom Video Conference
Something we hear often from adults who minister with youth is a desire to connect with colleagues, share resources, and learn best practices in youth ministry. For 2017-2018 we'll be hosting regular meetings where youth leaders, whether paid or volunteer, can do exactly that. These meetings will be held online by video/telephone conference to minimize travel and make meetings more accessible for all! So grab some lunch, get your laptop, and hang out with some colleagues. Our November discussion will focus on current celebrations/challenges as well as the idea of "Good Samaritan Leadership." Hope you will join us!

Application Deadline November 3
The UTO Board will continue to award up to 10 grants of $2,500 each to young adults and up to 10 grants of $2,500 each to seminarians regardless of age
. The purpose of these grants is to provide start-up money for new projects. There is a separate application form for young adults and seminarians, but the deadlines, criteria, and focus are the same.
The Board pays careful attention to each grant application's fit with the focus and criteria, regardless of who wrote it. Applications from seminarians will be reviewed and submitted by the seminary deans, but we hope you'll encourage seminarians from your diocese to apply. Learn more.

Diocesan Convention Youth Presence 2017
November 17-18 at Westin Lombard
The 180th Annual Convention of the Diocese of Chicago will take place Friday, November 17 and Saturday, November 18 at the Westin Lombard Yorktown Center.
We celebrate that young people are the church and affirm that we need their voice, gifts, and leadership to fully represent who we are as the body of Christ. Students in grades 9-12 may apply to be one of 12 Youth Delegates who have seat, voice, and vote at Diocesan Convention. It is our goal to have a youth representative from each Deanery or geographic region of the diocese. High School Youth may also attend as alternate delegates or General Participants in Diocesan Convention. Youth Delegates positions are still available.

January 13-14, 2018 at St. James Cathedral
MIQRA (meek * rah) is an overnight retreat that focuses on the Bible and allows teens to discover what's in it, why we should care, and how to read it. The Bible is obviously important to the Christian faith, but many Christians may not know what's in it, may find it difficult to read, or may not know how it is relevant to their life. This event offers teens a chance to come together, make friends, ask questions, and learn about God's love letter to the world. Learn more.

Peer Ministry Leadership Training
March 10, 2018 at St. James the Less, Northfield
Peer Ministry Leadership
gives students specific skills in caring for friends. They learn how to listen, ask caring questions, and guide friends through tough choices, changes, and challenges. They welcome people, even those who are not always welcomed. And Peer Ministry Leadership helps grow a ministry by expanding the number of leaders "doing" ministry.
This one day training will provide an introduction to Peer Ministry Leadership and help your church understand how to teach and implement the skills. Learn more about Peer Ministry. Save the date! Registration details coming soon!
