This Sunday - What does the Bible say? What does it mean? And how does it apply to my life? Jim Wetzel will be sharing Part 2 of The Word of God Series with a message entitled "How to Study the Word."

BELONG: The Journey - Discover your life in Christ, who God created you to be, and the gifts and passions that make you unique. Join us this Sunday at 11:30 a.m. as we focus on the topic of "Grow."
E astgate House of Prayer - All are welcome this Tuesday at 7 p.m. as Pastor Brian Flewelling shares a timely word about trusting God and turning to him as our Supplier. Childcare is provided through age 7.

Eastgate House of Prayer ls always looking for new people who are interested in becoming involved at EHOP - whether it be through serving on a worship team as a singer, musician, or prayer leader; on a prophetic or healing team as a prayer minister; or on our hospitality team. So, if you're looking for an opportunity to grow in your gift, we'd love to have you! Right now we are specifically looking for bass players, prayer ministers, and adult childcare workers (18 years or older; background check required). Training is provided. There is a stipend for all our childcare workers. If you are interested in any of these opportunities, please contact Kara Sensenig at karas@petra.church .

Senior Adult Ministry
All senior adults (62+) are invited to the Bird-In-Hand Stage on Saturday, September 8, at 7 p.m. to see “The Home Game,” about a young Amish boy who has a dream of playing major league baseball. Filled with laughter and drama, this 2.5-hour musical production "hits it out of the ball park." The cost is $35 per person, payable at registration. If you would like to come, please sign up in the lobby this Sunday or register online by this Wednesday , August 15.
Regional Events

Regions A & C (New Holland East & West) Picnic in the Park - Join us for an afternoon of food and fellowship on Sunday, August 26, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the New Holland Park (at the Rotary Pavilion in front of the stage). Pulled chicken BBQ, hot dogs, ice cream with toppings, and place settings will be provided. Please bring a side to share. Feel free to bring board and yard games as well. Marriage Ministry
Couples - You have a little over a week (by August 19) to register online for the 2018 Marriage Beach Retreat from September 28-30 in Ocean City, MD! The theme is "EnJOYing Your Marriage." Enjoy a great weekend with your spouse, fellowship with other couples, and hear encouraging input from Pastor Derrick and Jen Garber and Ben and Marci Dodd. The cost is $285 per couple, with a $25 deposit at registration. Marriage Live - Atrium registration for this powerful marriage program through Cleansing Stream begins this Sunday! There are two components of this program: a small-group study on Sunday evenings at 6 p.m. from September 23 - November 4, and a full-day event on Saturday, November 3. The cost is $40 per couple for the small-group study and $99 for the event; some scholarship assistance is available. Register online ( for the study only; you will register for the event later ) through the web, the Realm App, or Petra App.
Petra Women
Lipstick and Crayons, Summer Edition - Join us this Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. as we walk the one-mile trail and then let the kids play at the playground. Meet in the East parking lot by the walking trail. If it's raining, we will cancel for that day. (If we cancel, we will post it on the Lipstick and Crayons Facebook page.) This is the final event of the summer! Our fall season begins on Wednesday, October 3, with a catered brunch.

Ultimate Frisbee - If you missed the pick-up game on Tuesday because of the weather, plan on joining us in the Petra Field this Tuesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. We'll be playing every Tuesday evening through October 30. Petra Young Adults
Young Adult Mission Trip - Join us for our annual week of work and fun at Fair Haven Camps in the beautiful state of Maine. You'll have a blast while serving the Lord from September 16-22. This trip is for young adults between the ages of 18 and 24, single or married. The cost to participate is $100 per person. Kingdom Kids
2018-19 Classes - On August 19 and 26, Pre-K classes will have a "sneak peek" at the Summit and their new Kindergarten room! Step-Up Day , then, is on September 2. This is the Sunday when all Early Childhood and Elementary children move up to their new classes! 

Fourth Grade Graduation will take place on Sunday, August 26, as the children transition from Kingdom Kids to EDGE 56. Parents of fourth graders are welcome to join their children in the Summit that day from approximately 9 to 9:45 or 11 to 11:45 a.m. The fourth graders will then head to the fifth grade room to meet their EDGE 56 leaders.

The Summer Reading Program for kids from age 4 through Grade 8 is wrapping up soon. Please return your reading log to the Petra Student Library no later than this Sunday to claim your gift card and be entered in a grand prize drawing.
Local Outreach
Football season is almost upon us, and Petra is helping again at the Garden Spot Football concession stand on Friday, August 24, from 6 to 9:30 p.m. We will need 15 volunteers. If you can help serve food that evening, please contact Laurie Eadline at 717-725-8903 or laurie.eadline@frontier.com .

Volunteers are needed at the Petra Food Bank on the second Wednesday of each month for the opening shift, beginning at 3 p.m. Stockers are also needed on the first and third Monday mornings of the month, and possibly at other times throughout the month. If you can lend a hand, please contact Mike Steffy at 717-468-6005 or foodbank@petra.church .
Global Missions
Mission Prayer Focus - Alan and Carol Wert and their three children serve as Petra missionaries with Eastern Mennonite Missions in Wales, where they serve alongside local churches in various forms of equipping and community outreach in a multi-cultural urban setting. God has opened opportunities for them to impact a variety of persons in the community, including immigrants from around the world who are desiring to learn English. Pray for God’s anointing and wisdom as they seek to be salt and light, sharing God’s love to those in their community.

Fundraiser Meal - Enjoy chicken barbecue, mac 'n cheese, coleslaw, dessert, and more at a fundraiser meal this Sunday at 12:30 p.m. The proceeds will go toward Alan and Carol Wert, who serve as Petra missionaries with Eastern Mennonite Missions in Wales. Take-outs will be available after the 9 a.m. service.

Fundraiser Meal - Meatball subs will be featured at a fundraiser meal on Sunday, August 26, for the Petra mission team which will be serving with ZOE International in Thailand. The team, traveling from January 9-20, will be teaching English, participating in a trafficking prevention outreach at the Thailand boarder, and loving on the ZOE kids, among other things. Take-outs will be available after the 9 a.m. service.

Mission Trip, Costa Rica - Pastors Mario and Jeanette Araya will be visiting with churches and meeting with leaders in Costa Rica from this Saturday through August 28. Please pray for wisdom, protection, divine appointments, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit through their trip. They greatly appreciate Petra's support of Peniel Ministries!
