Fury Signs Goalkeeper Trio

The Philadelphia Fury continues signing players in preparation for the American Soccer League's (ASL) inaugural kick-off. The latest, a trio of goalkeepers, will be relied upon to keep the ball out of the Fury goal as well as spearhead offensive counter-attacks. Ryan Gill (23), Tetsuya Okuda (27), and Chase Clement (24) who previously played for Rowan University, Antelope Shiojiri AC (Japan), and Delaware Valley College, respectively, leave the Fury with several options at the position.
"We are ecstatic to have signed three wonderfully talented goalkeepers," said Fury GM, Graham King-Charters. "They will improve each other and we feel that the competition they will provide is a healthy component within a squad environment."
Each keeper was brought in because Fury management identified talents that help the team win. The Fury GM was delighted to have secured squad depth in addition to a potential team talisman.
"All three possess different attributes and this will ensure we have a balance throughout the team moving forward," explained King-Charters.
Ryan Gill is a local product at the high school and collegiate levels. The West Deptford High School (NJ) graduate played his college ball at Methodist University (NC) before transferring to Rowan University in 2011. Gill played 29 games for the Profs in his two years with the team recording a goals-against average of 1.02 and earning New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) All-Conference second team honors in 2011.
Tetsuya Okuda hails from Japan and provides experiences the younger players can learn from. According to Fury scouting reports, Okuda is extremely agile and technically gifted.
Chase Clement is another local talent who has won numerous accolades and has big-game experience. The New Hope High School (PA) graduate played for the PA Olympic Development Program (ODP) team and won a PA State Championship at the club level. He was the starting GK for Delaware Valley College and twice earned NCAA Division III All-American Honors.
The signings represent an additional layer to the complex task of building a team from scratch. Each player is hand-selected and the Fury front office is pleased with the progress the club has made.
"The squad is taking shape, we are slowing building what we feel is a competitive team and we cannot wait for the season to commence," exclaimed King-Charters.
