A Message From Michelle
"A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles" ~ Christopher Reeve

In considering a message for this month's newsletter, I was reminded of the number of moments where I've had honor of being present during a "hero moment".  Hero moments do not always have to be the kind we see on TV.  Of course, there are many that we recognize; first responders risking their own lives to save others, brave soldiers who place themselves in harm's way to protect all of us, or a policeman who never knows what the next instant might bring.  All these examples are certainly heroic.

....But what about the everyday heroes?  I am fortunate to be surrounded each day by people who take the time to create those hero moments.  Most often, they do not realize themselves as someone's hero, but it's clearly evidenced by those they touch. Hero moments can be a single gesture, small and quiet.  It's consoling a resident or comforting a family; holding a hand; helping someone beside you who may be having a family crisis themselves but come to work every day to help others.  It's offering to help a friend plant their garden; babysit for new parents who need a break; or pick up items from the supermarket for an elderly neighbor.

Pay attention and identify how you might be creating those hero moments yourself and recognize the heroes in your own life...they're all around you!
