A Message From Michelle

Autumn is in the air.....The days are growing shorter and the leaves are beginning to turn those golden colors that reflect the afternoon sun.  The crisp feel of the changing season causes all of us to reach for those sweatshirts we have tucked away on the shelves - abandoned a season ago as we reached for t-shirts and flip-flops.

Transitioning from season to season is something we've grown to expect.  Autumn allows us a time to prepare for the next season; a "get-ready" time, if you will.  Here at Pickering, we watch transitioning and re-positioning take place daily.   We assist residents and their families prepare for possibly "the next season".... And let's be realistic, whether you're placing your first-graders on a school bus for the first time, watching your college student walk into their dorm for the next four years or kissing your daughter on her wedding day; we are all transitioning.

This transition can take place gently and thoughtfully if we take the time to plan.  Having direction and considering options provides focus for that change.  We are here to assist in that process should you or anyone you know need information or would like to sit down with someone to discuss what might be available.

So let's enjoy this change of season and delight in all things pumpkin!!!

Happy October everyone!!!

Newtown Rotary Golf Outing to Benefit
Pickering Manor a Great Success!

Despite the threat of Hurricane Joachin the previous week, the skies cleared for a perfect day to bring  golfers together to support the Rotary's Golf Outing on October 5th.

More than 75 golfers came out to Trenton Country Club and enjoyed a great time for a great cause- Pickering Manor!  For the past 26 years, the Newtown Rotary has designated proceeds from this outing to support Newtown's only community owned and operated 5 star senior residence.  Many, many thanks to the Newtown Rotary for their continued support!

Have You Met "Flo?"
If you've been to Peddler's Village, you may have!  Flo Pickeringale is Pickering Manor's Entry into the Peddler's Village Scarecrow Contest!  The activity staff and residents worked very hard to construct Flo and give her a beautiful yet "eerie" appearance.  Pickering Manor sponsored the event and heard many great comments on Flo at our table at the Scarecrow Festival in September.  If you go to Peddler's Village, check Flo out on the main square, next to the koi pond, and don't forget to vote for her!
