As some of you know, your librarian has just returned from vacation, so I'm playing a bit of catch-up at the library this week. But that doesn't mean that we don't have anything going on -- in fact, we have a lot of great events coming up, including TODAY's Friends of the Library pie social!

Pie Social TODAY - July 17th, 2-4pm

The Friends of the Mercer Library welcome you to a Community Pie Social this afternoon, July 17th from 2-4pm. This is a FREE community event, and all are welcome! (Donations are appreciated.) 

Enjoy pie and ice cream, a few simple kids activities, and live music with the Campanile Dixieland Band. Hope we'll see you there!

Thursday, July 28 at 1pm - John Swift presents his latest novel, Taconite: a Sheriff Gogebic novel 

Friday, August 5 at 1pm - Roger Hinterthuer presents his true crime tale, Justice Delayed is Justice Denied 

Friday, August 12 at 1pm - Author Enid Cleaves and investigator Craig Nehring present their book, Wisconsin's Most Haunted, detailing some of the stories from the Fox Valley Ghost Hunters
Used Book Sale - Friday, August 5

The Friends of the Library will present their annual used book sale on Friday, August 5 from 9am to 2pm. There will be bargains for everyone on books, puzzles, DVDs, and more for all ages. 

We are now accepting donations for the sale at the library. Click here to read more about the sale and what we will accept.

Local hobbyist Tom Leidenheimer will present an "Introduction to Stargazing" on Wednesday, July 27 at 1pm. 

Summer resident Vic Hamer gives a presentation on his work "Water is Life - Transforming lives by providing clean water" on Tuesday, July 19 at 1pm. 

Interested in making writing a career? Writer Ardis Berghoff presents "Freelance Writing for Business" on Monday, August 8 at 6:30pm.

Northwoods Book Festival 

The Mercer Library is proud to be a sponsor of the 2016 Northwoods Book Festival. The next event in this cooperative program series will be on July 21st at the Mercer Public Library, when we host author Lisl Detlefsen to hear about her book, Time for Cranberries. This family-friendly program will also feature a simple craft for kids and cranberry snacks. The event is free and open to all!
