Where else but at Pin Oak and Spring Gathering can a pre-green horse compete for $65,000 in prize money? The opportunity includes $35,000 in pre-green division, Texas Pre-Green Super Stake and USHJA Pre-Green Incentive program money PLUS the opportunity to compete in $30,000 worth of USHJA National Hunter Derbys over the three weeks. These shows are a must for pre-green horses.

The USHJA Pre-Green Incentive Program is underway, created by the Open Hunter Task Force to provide an incentive based program for developing Pre-Green hunters for the competition ring. The program consists of Pre-Green Stake classes and a championship to be held in conjunction with the USHJA International Hunter Derby Finals. "This is an exciting opportunity for those in this country who love to start and develop young horses, " reported Colleen McQuay. "This program gives owners and professionals a new focus to produce the future champions that are needed for all the other options we now have for hunters," commented Louis Serio.

Haras Dos Cavaleiros to host Working Equitation Clinics in January and February!

The Pin Oak Charity Horse Show is just around the corner, this year with $6,000 in prize money for Working Equitation!  Once again, Haras Dos Cavaleiros, our Working Equitation Sponsor for Pin Oak, is helping everyone get ready with a series of clinics at their facility at 26427 Peden Road in Magnolia, TX  77355.

If you attended the IALHA Nationals you'll know that Haras' trainer Antonio Garcia with Adagio DC was Champion at the Intermediate level, and Carlos Salguero took home the honors in the Novice Championship.  Rebecca Algar, who trained at Haras Dos Cavaleiros clinics last fall, was Champion at the Introductory level.  Join this winning team at Pin Oak on March 21 and 22!

Working Equitation World Champion Jorge de Sousa returns for a two-day Intermediate clinic January 12 - 13, and Haras trainers Antonio, Carlos and Tiago will repeat their extremely successful entry level clinics in group format on January 26 - 27 and February 23 - 24.

Jorge's clinic is fully booked for riders but you are welcome to audit at $100 / person. For the entry level clinics, cost is $250 / horse, $50 auditors, and $45 stall board for the weekend.

To reserve your spot,  contact Haras Dos Cavaleiros  281-259-4861 info@harasdc.us or Linda Graham, lgrahamwwl@comcast.net 713-937-0043 or 713-937-4100 mobile.

Working Equitation Updates

The 2013 Working Equitation competition sponsored by  Haras Dos Cavaleiros will be conducted according to the rules used at the IALHA 2012 National Show held in Fort Worth, Texas.  Three levels of competition will be offered, Novice, Basic and Advanced, each with $2,000 in available prize money. Be aware that there are several sets of rules for Working Equitation in use in the United States, and groups are working to consolidate them.

However, this work is not yet complete.  Our sponsor and show officials have elected to use the same rules most recently employed by IALHA in 2012.  Please be aware that there are changes from the rules used at Pin Oak last year.  Download the rules HERE or from our website and study them carefully.
