Electric Bus for Tallahassee

Tallahassee for 3 years
Ask the PSTA to Choose Zero Emission Buses!
Due by Tuesday End of Day!
PSTA decision Wednesday 9 AM.

On Wednesday, the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority ( PSTA ) will decide on how to replace its oldest buses: with new  zero emission electric buses or  with diesel buses that will  spew carbon  and smog - forming nitrogen into the atmosphere for years to come.  You can make a difference  by telling the PSTA  how you'd like to see this public agency to spend your tax dollars: buses that will burn diesel and  pollute until 2030 , or  zero emission electric buses whose source of energy will get cleaner every year they're serving our community, as we move forward with solar power.   Last week the finance committee recommended buying 9 new diesel buses based on outdated  information, instead of diesel hybrid or electric.

Sample Text: Electric buses protect kids with asthma and seniors with COPD while
providing a quiet, safe ride.  They cost less to own and operate than any other bus and  are a good fit for urban routes with frequent stops. Don't take a step backwards from   your sustainability policy by buying new diesel buses.  Please make Pinellas County a  leader in cleaner, safer technologies by investing now in new zero-emission electric buses.

Organizations & Businesses:
Sierra Club is building support now for PSTA to buy its first electric buses.  The capital outlay  would be virtually the same as the cost of new diesel buses. Click to see the letter  that will be presented to PSTA board at their meeting this Wednesday morning. If your business  or organization would like to add their support to the letter please email Phil.Compton@sierraclub.org   and tell him your biz or org supports Zero Emission buses!

Action Alert:   Florida Black Bear

Hopefully by the time you read this the entire Florida Black Bear Hunt  has been  stopped.  If not, please email the FWC and ask to  stop it immediately. In the first day of the hunt over 200 bears had  been killed, by the time you read this the 320 quota will most likely have been surpassed.
