Williston seeks to get Construction on Airport Taxi Way Back on Track

KEYZ Radio - The Williston City Commission has fired the contractor for the taxi way at the new airport. An emergency meeting was held Aug. 9 with contractor, J.M. Marshuetz, for breach of contract.  Airport director Anthony Dudas tells News Radio, Marschuetz demanded more money to keep the original completion date of November 2018, or else it wouldn't be able to finish the job until less than a month before the airport is scheduled to open. Williston calls for Bids on Former Herman Oil Gas Station; Demolition to Begin Aug. 14

Williston Economic Development - The City of Williston is taking steps to revitalize a prime spot for commercial redevelopment near Motel 6. Williston is removing the buildings, structures and underground storage tanks at the former Herman Oil gas station site to make way for new projects. The city has called for bids for the three separate parcels at 1201 16th Ave. W. This is the second time in less than a year that the city has sought development proposals for the site; but this time the city is taking care of the remediation. Read More
Community invited to Williston School Board Meetings Aug. 13, Aug. 20

Williston Herald - One of the reasons Williston Public School District No. 1 is looking to build or renovate elementary schools is the age of the district's elementary buildings. Of the six elementary schools - five of which have students in kindergarten through fourth grade and one of which has students in fifth and sixth grade - only one is less than 50 years old. Hagan Elementary was built in 1983 and is both the newest and largest of the district's elementary schools. It's capacity is 450 students, and last year it had 494 students. Read More

Williston Economic Development - Pizza Hut in Williston is getting a new look and location. A ground breaking ceremony was held on Aug. 8 for a new Pizza Hut that will feature a pick-up window for carryout; speedier lunch service and much more!  Russ and DeLonnes Klug, owners of Pizza Hut in Williston and Dickinson, say the current Pizza Hut delivery store and dine-in stores will close about the same time the new restaurant opens. "We are hoping to start construction August 9 or 10 and hoping to open at the end of October or early November," said Russ Klug. Read More

Williston Movie Theater gets Makeover

Williston Herald - A Main Street staple since 1920, the Grand Theater is getting a makeover. Construction is underway at South Grand, with exterior and interior improvements. Owner Ryan Agnes said he'd always felt like he was missing out on a movie when scheduling features at the Grand, which led to the decision to add another theater to the south location.   Read More

Williston Herald - Conrad and April Mogren have been operating their business out of their home for the last five years, but all that is about to change. Mogren's Rustic Creations is opening in the former Shepherd's Garden location in the Downtown Plaza. The shop specializes in hand-made signs and home décor made from barn wood. Read More
Pallai named New WSC Communication Specialist

Williston Economic Development - A Williston State College employee has been promoted to Communication Specialist. Caitlin Pallai has been moved from Executive Assistant to the VP for Academic Affairs to the new position. The Gonzaga University graduate has been working for the college since the fall of 2015. She was initially introduced to Williston through the Gonzaga-Williston Summer Internship Program. Pallai says she looks forward to the new opportunity. "I'm excited about my new position and the challenges and growth it will offer," she said. Pallai will also lead the 2018-19 Leadership Williston class sponsored by the Williston Area Chamber of Commerce.
Watford City Ribfest, Craig Morgan Concert Aug. 10

Ribfest is the Watford City Chamber's largest fundraiser of the year. Customers may begin purchasing ribs at 6 p.m.; arrive early as they sell out quickly!

Watford City will offer Head Start preschool during the 2018-19 school year.
McKenzie County Farmers - For the first time, Watford City will offer a Head Start program for preschool-age children this fall.
