Rector's Reflections
 Place-sharing

Sunday's gospel evokes our sympathy. It opens the possibility-described as an impossibility-of place-sharing, trading or sharing places with each other. It also echoes a common theme: the pursuit of wealth in this world can lead us into idolatry and away from faith in Christ. Instead, as the reading from 1 Timothy reminds us, we should pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness, so that there is no "poor man named Lazarus" dying at our gates. After all, the greatest treasure-our eternal salvation has already been procured for us through Jesus' death and resurrection. Knowing this, we can share all we have with our neighbors, even our very place and salvation, confident that God will continue to provide for our needs. [Sundays and Seasons, 2016]

We'll gather for one service at 9:00 am to consider caring for those in need, especially those "at our gate," visible to us, whom we are aware. We'll wonder about how this care is an essential component of good stewardship because in sharing wealth we avoid the snare of wealth. We'll celebrate the one whom death could not hold-who comes to us risen from the dead-who can free us from the death grip of greed. See you Sunday!

Blessing of the Animals

You are invited to bring your beloved one(s) who bark, meow, chirp, squeak, or don't make any sounds to worship on Sunday, October 2nd. Blessings for larger animals can be arranged with Pastor Bill and you may bring a picture to remember a beloved pet that is deceased or unable to attend for any reason.
Solar Array is Blessed - Take 2
Below is a corrected link to the slideshow from last week!

Bishop Hirschfeld visited All Saints. on Sunday September 11th. He was the celebrant at both the 8 & 10 am services. Bishop Hirschfeld met with the congregation for Q&A between services and after the second service he was lifted up to the roof on a special lift, operated by Anne Hunt, to bless the new solar panels. You will not want to miss the 3-minute slide show with two video clips of Bishop Hirschfeld being lifted to the "heavens".
This was an important day in the life of our church, and you can see it if you click on the website and then click on Start Slideshow.
The music chosen for the video is a Shaker hymn titled, Lord of the Dance.  This hymn was performed by our choir as the communion hymn at the 10 am service.

Sincerely,
Phil Wasmuth

The Rt. Reverend A. Robert Hirschfeld, Celebrant at All Saints and blessing of the solar panels;

Thank You!
Anne Hunt
Options for Helping Refugees
Currently, there is a record number of refugees in the world. There are families fleeing violence and young children crossing the border into the US alone. Some legal, thoroughly-vetted refugee families are coming to NH to settle. While most refugees are in other parts of the world and few, if any, of those coming to NH will be living in Wolfeboro, there are likely ways that we can help, beyond contributing funds to refugee relief organizations. Please let Warren Muir know if you are interested in exploring options for our community, our parish, or yourself to be involved in helping those displaced from their homes. He will be at the Mission Outreach Fair with information about the Governor Wentworth Area Volunteer Co-op or can be reached at [email protected] or 202-495-1128.
ECW Fall Meeting
ECW Corporate Communion, which included an art history lesson, followed by the fall planning meeting ably led by co-chairs Gail Holm and Dianne Wasmuth (behind the camera).
Drivers Needed
If anyone can help with driving Larry to Radiation therapy at Douglas Wentworth between now and October 21st, please contact Jane at [email protected] for any appointment dates and times. She is very grateful for your help.
Donations to Louisiana Flood Victims
At their August meeting, Vestry members approved the recommendation of the Mission/Outreach Team to donate $1,000 to flood victims in Louisiana. The donation will be channeled through ERD, Episcopal Relief & Development. The monies will be spent in the most needy areas as soon as possible.

The devastation in Louisiana is overwhelming. This is an opportunity for All Sainters to make a difference and help ERD bring much-needed supplies and compassionate support to people in the Gulf Coast. Please go to  www.episcopalrelief.org for information if your wish to make a personal donation. Or you may mail a check to:

            Episcopal Relief & Development
            P O Box 7058
            Merrifield VA 22116-7058

Please put US Disaster Relief/Louisiana Flooding in the memo line.

Our Mission/Outreach Team is committed to using the Mission Fund to reach out to local, national, international and Sustainability for the Future causes. We appreciate your support and ask that you join us in Spreading the Word through sharing our Time, Talent and Treasure.

Fair Chair 2017 Search
A committee of recent summer fair chairs is searching for summer fair leaders for 2017. The leaders do not need to be spouses, or even close friends. The fair chairs have met and talked about the terrific experiences that each experienced. Some of the experiences were transformative. Over the next several weeks we'll publish in the eNews statements from past fair chairs.

This week Susie and Peter Walker relate experiences from 2015, when they chaired the fair.

Please give leading the fair prayerful consideration. Past fair chairs have pledged to be with the leaders on this journey, and will provide help and guidance each step of the journey.

Sincerely,
Phil Wasmuth
Summer Fair Co-chairs selection committee

Many others have described the organization and day to day functions of the Fair Chairs.  We should emphasize and reinforce their message that the Booth Chairs
are informed and  well organized.  We simply helped with some supplies, timing, logistics and storage.
For us the greatest joy was seeing the church in action - alive in the Community.  Not only did we gratefully receive donations but we were particularly heartened to see how many items were given new and meaningful life where people needed them.  We are blessed to be members of this vital Church Community.

UTO is Back!
Do you need a new Little Blue Box? Beginning this fall, All Saints Church will restore its semi-annual United Thank Offering Ingathering of coins that individual Episcopalians give as daily expressions of thanks for their many blessings. Most parishioners keep their Blue Box on their dresser where they can drop in their change at the end of the day. Collected twice a year, the contents of a Blue Box may seem small, but pooled together across the diocese and the wider church, they become a mighty sum that can do great good at home and abroad. The fall UTO Ingathering is held on a Sunday in October so that collected gifts can be presented at Diocesan Convention the first weekend in November. Watch for the date in the next issues of All Saints E-mail. New Blue Boxes are available in the narthex.

A Season of Thankfulness
"I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." John 15:5
Bishop Rob reminds us "when Jesus identifies himself with a grapevine and God the Father as the vinedresser, he's not talking about making grapes.  He's talking about the resilient, relentlessly outstretching, and healthy life that God longs for all of us." With Jesus as the vine, we are the branches that are connected to God and one another. We grow and produce good fruit through our life together for one another and for the sake of the world.

During the coming weeks, we will be focusing on the abundant leaves of blessing, the gifts we are given and give thanks for. Your worship bulletin will contain a green leaf of thanksgiving each week for you to share a blessing you are thankful for and place in the offering plate. We will share some of the blessings in worship and visually connect them to an ever growing vine of interconnectedness. The leaders of All Saints' hope the growing display of our abundant blessing moves us to recognize more and more the many ways we are blessed.

Commitment Sunday
Next Sunday, October 2nd is Commitment Sunday at All Saints' and we will celebrate the abundance of our good and gracious God.. At both worship services we will present our commitments of time, talent and treasure for 2017. Commitment cards will arrive by mail and be available in worship as well. Those individuals/households making a commitment for 2017 will have a bunch of grapes added to our vine covered with the leaves of blessings we have shared as part of our offering during this season of thanksgiving.

Wolfeboro Reads:
Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates
Starting on Tuesday, September 13, join Pastor Gina and Pastor Bill for discussion and sharing around a common read. We will meet each week (with some exceptions), from 4:00-5:30pm in the Gathering Space at FCCW, 115 S. Main St. We will spend a few weeks on each book that we read. To start, we have a chosen an award-winning book, also nominated for a Pulitzer Prize by a journalist for the The Atlantic. It is written in memoir style, as letters to his teenaged son, reflecting on the issues of race in America. The Wolfeboro Public Library has several copies available. All are welcome!
