JANUARY 2017
We're kicking off 2017 with a fresh start! Construction is taking place at Fort Tuthill County Park, with work on the historic Quad and the Fort Tuthill Bike Park. All that and a January storm that brought in over 3' of snow so the new Flagstaff Snow Park is rockin'. Plan your winter adventure and visit your county parks and natural areas.
WINTER RECREATION
Snowplay Update
The latest winter storm brought over 3' of snow to the region. Want to get outside and play? Check out the Flagstaff Winter Snowplay map for more winter activity ideas around town.

Our friends over at Flagstaff Snow Park  are open! Visit their web page for their latest schedule.
Fort Tuthill Winter Adventure
Fresh snowshoe tracks at Fort Tuthill County Park.
Fort Tuthill County Park is ready for your winter adventure. We've groomed all 5 miles of Soldiers Trail for cross country skiing and the conditions are at their best. If you're interested in snowshoeing, you can venture out in the park instead (please stay off the groomed trail).

Cross country skiing and snowshoeing are great ways to increase your heart rate and experience nature. Some doctors have even embraced park prescriptions to encourage kids and adults to be more active while also being outside. Follow us on Facebook or Instagram for more county parks and natural areas news and pics.

New Features at Bike Park
Fort Tuthill Bike Park will have new features this summer.
What's a skinny? How about a roller? These are two types of "features" that are being built at the Fort Tuthill Bike Park that will help riders gain skills and become more confident in their mountain biking when they head out on area trails.

Coconino County Parks & Recreation  staff member Geoffrey Gross and members from the  American Conservation Experience  (ACE) crew are working on new features for the next phase of the bike park. We've temporarily halted construction with all the snow, but will move forward after the snow melts. These new features will be ready for this year's riding season. Construction of this phase of the bike park is funded by  Flagstaff Biking Organization  and their sponsors. Please stay off the features as they are not completed or safe to ride.
Historic Quad Restoration Update
Construction on the historic Quad at Fort Tuthill. Photo courtesy of Kinney Construction Services.
Kinney Construction Services (KCS) continued with their work on the historic Fort Tuthill Quad restoration at Fort Tuthill County Park. The team removed sewer services on the west side of the fairgrounds, as well as an abandoned water line in the same area. They removed bollards around the propane tanks, and moved the chain-link fence along the north side of the fairgrounds. Finally, KCS successfully moved electrical services for the Administration office to temporary poles. Want to know more? Visit Coconino.az.gov/Parks/FortTuthill
