Discover the New Nature Explore Trail at Wonders of Water
Gather with us for the unveiling of the Nature Explore Trail at the Wonders of Water (WOW!) family fun event on Saturday, Sept. 22, 9-11 a.m. Located adjacent to a creek at the Environmental Education Center (4116 W. Plano Pkwy., 75093), the Nature Explore Trail is an educational pathway equipped with interactive signage teaching about creeks, wildlife and the care of our waterways.

Funded through a Texas Parks & Wildlife Conservation License Plate grant, the trail's boardwalk is built with TREX, a composite decking material made from recycled wood and plastic bags.

Along the path, meet “Herbie" the blue heron, a metal art installation. This large wading bird is common in Plano creeks and its survival is dependent on the health of its habitat. "Herbie" visibly displays plastic debris in his abdomen to demonstrate the impact of litter on wildlife and the environment. Help complete this art installation by filling "Herbie's" tummy with plastic trash.

WOW! officially opens the Nature Explore Trail with a morning of engaging activities geared toward water-quality education and watershed protection.

The Nature Explore Trail and Environmental Education Center grounds are open daily from sunrise to sunset.
