Pitch in and Pick up During the Great American Cleanup
Spend a fun, purposeful day out with family and friends at Live Green in Plano's (LGIP) Great American Cleanup (GAC).  Now through April 8, register online to volunteer and select a cleanup location. On Saturday, April 14 meet at your location and pick up litter.

After the site is clean, join other volunteers at the big after-party where your bags of trash are added to the LGIP's collection pile. The tallied results are reported to Keep Texas and Keep America Beautiful. At the beach-themed party, enjoy free food and beverage, live music, games, face-painting and more. Compete for prizes such as the "Most Bags of Litter Collected," "Largest Group" or the coveted "Litter Oddities" awards.

Free cleanup supplies are provided, including trash and recycle bags, gloves, litter pick up sticks and hand sanitizer. The first 2,500 people to register receive a Great American Cleanup t-shirt.

The cleanup begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 11 a.m. just in time for the after-party, 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m., in the Chase Oaks Church parking lot on Legacy Dr.  Register now through April 8.

Submit Applications for Arts and Events Grants
Are you part of a local arts group or involved with a community event? Your efforts change how others see our City by simply bringing people together for a shared creative experience.

The City's hotel/motel occupancy tax helps create more of these experiences in Plano by providing four types of Arts and Events Grants: Small Arts, Major Arts, Special Events and Urban/Town Center Events. These grants nurture a greater appreciation for the arts, cultural and diversity of our residents; encourage the development of new programs; and celebrate collaborative projects involving multiple arts organizations. The Cultural Affairs Commission oversees the grant process. The deadline for local nonprofit organizations to apply for 2018-19 grants is Wednesday, April 4 at noon. More information and applications are available online.
