Shop Savvy at the Plano Christmas Market
Looking for unique hand-crafted gifts this holiday? Visit the Plano Christmas Market! More than 80 North Texas vendors showcase their talents on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 18-19, at Carpenter Park Recreation Center.

Be one of the first 100 guests and receive a free, reusable Plano Christmas Market shopping bag. Then fill it to the brim with holiday crafts and decor, jewelry, clothing and candles. A selection of salsas, jams, nuts and dips will spice up your holiday gathering.

Wear comfortable shoes and stop for a chair massage or spinal health screening. Don't let hunger slow your shopping down, the Christmas Market Cafe will be serving up Newk's Eatery soups, salads, sandwiches, snacks, desserts and beverages.

Come on over to Carpenter Park Recreation Center, 6701 Coit Road. Overflow parking is nearby at Robinson Middle School. Click for hours.

Protect Your Pipes from Fats, Oils & Grease
Well tickle my turkey, it's time for a friendly reminder about the woes of cooking and plugged pipes. Keep your Thanksgiving fun and festive without an unexpected plumbing bill by following these simple tips:
  • Don't dump cooking fats, oils or grease down your sink drain. You can plug your pipes causing sewer water to backup into your house or your neighborhood.
  • Use cold water to rinse pots and pans.
  • Collect small amounts of used, cooled cooking oil in a sturdy, plastic container with a screw-top lid. When the container is full, put it in the trash cart.
  • Schedule a free pick up for 1 or more gallons of cooking or turkey fryer oil. Just collect it in a container (like above) and call Environmental Waste Services to recycle it into bio-diesel fuel.
  • Pour fats and grease into a container to harden. Trash it when full.
  • Soak up small amounts of fats, oils or grease from pots and pans with a paper towel, then toss the towel in the trash.
Still not sure, watch this educational video. Don't be a drain on your holiday; protect your pipes so your time can be spent enjoying family not plumbing repairs!
