Welcome to the Auction Sneak Peek edition of the FUNd Stuff! Every other week until the auction, we'll be pulling back the curtain so you can get a glimpse of what PNA Goes Platinum is cooking up for you!
These items are just a taste of what's in store for you on Auction night. Please make sure you have a seat at the table - purchase your ticket (or a whole table!) now. Really, you can do it right now. Just follow this link and you'll be ready to go!
We are so proud to present to you these carefully crafted opportunities, many of which are exclusive to PNA, and many of which are designed specifically for PNA's audience. We are tremendously grateful to PNA's faculty, staff, parents and business partners who go to such lengths to support independent education in Alaska. Thank you.
Have any questions about what you see here? We're happy to help. Just give us a call at 907-333-1080. Please enjoy, and see you on February 27!

Who makes the PNA auction shine? Who makes sure we are scrupulously accurate AND puckishly witty? Our Inventory volunteers! We snuck into the Auction Zone and stole a few candids. Thank you, thank you!
Rachel Botson is our art valuation research pro, among her many, many talents. You also see her in the gallery alcove, matting students' artwork for display. If you see her, say thank you!
Mary Hewitt and Jill Morgan each tried to dodge the lens, but we caught Mary. If you see this woman in the hall way, give her a big hug and say thank you. It may be harder to recognize Jill, and we're not sure every blond woman at PNA wants a hug, but everyone loves a thank you!

Dear Friends and Families of PNA,
Welcome to our first Auction Sneak Peek issue! The things that we will have up for bid are too cool to keep to ourselves. Thus, an issue dedicated to all that is auction! Well, and a few pictures of the kids, because really, they're what we all read the FUNd Stuff for, right?
My daughters and I came to PNA in the fall of 2006. I didn't know what to expect, and really didn't know much about private schools and what it takes to run them. I had no idea I would become a part of the amazing machine that is the PNA Auction. But I did know that an incredible opportunity was ahead of my children at this school, and that I was willing to work my backside off to repay the generosity of others that afforded my daughters a PNA education.
As such, I went to every meeting the school had. At one of them (I think it was my inaugural Parent Association meeting?) there were some sign up sheets for all kinds of volunteer jobs parents could do; an entire page of them were for auction alone! I wrote my name on a few different tasks and guessed that someone would let me know at a later date how I could help.
Sometime in November, I felt a tap on my arm in the hallway, and a voice asked "Are you Jennie?" I turned around to find a petite woman with blonde hair and a welcoming smile. "I'm Mary Hewitt," she said, "I noticed you put your name down as available to help with data entry for the auction. Do you have a minute to talk? "
Some nights seemed never ending, but people brought food, and the ladies that came in to join us...well, let's just say that I've seldom laughed harder, and what happens in the auction should definitely stay in there!
Each year I look forward to short nights, too much Diet Coke, and finding the name of the artist of that elusive piece of art.
Seeing the creativity and generosity that our community gives in support of our school is the very best part of the auction for me. Well, besides the $5,200 one-of-a-kind fused glass coffee table class project that graces my living room.

We are pretty sure we haven't ever seen this big of a smile during a physics lesson, but she is the teacher, after all. And we can't help but notice...wow, is that a great smile!

Where do you want to be this year? How about Napa Valley!

The windmills of Fire Island have become iconic in Anchorage's skyline.
Currently, the 11 wind turbines have the capacity to power approximately 6,500 homes in Southcentral Alaska, but more than that, they represent viable diversification in our energy industry.
They are also amazingly enormous and fascinating. CIRI provides two guests with round trip passage to the island, a 1/2 day private tour with their knowledgeable staff, and swag!
Get informed, go where hardly anyone can, and be blown away.

Mason rearranges the verb legos to get the right ending for the tense.
Did that glass cat just meow at Maya?
Christopher adds another layer to 5th grade's anatomy...portrait?
It's language arts time in first grade.
Kindergarten gets inspired to write poetry. Plunger, horseshoe crab, dried caiman head, a bell, and Douglas Florian's Beast Feast book of poetry (a must read).
6th grade's parent lunch brought Fire Station #4 (heavy rescue) to PNA. No heavy rescuing was necessary though. Just some heavy eating. Thanks to Johanna's dad, Paul, for bringing the crew by! The entire school appreciated the visit.
