Porsche 2015 Boxster:
Unleash Your Dreams
In Alaska, a car like a Boxster stays buttoned up for 7 months of the year, while you pay storage fees. But thanks to Kendall Porsche, you can have a Boxster just for when you can use it.

Available to you (if you're over 25) for the summer, from May 1 to  September 1,  this lease lets you have the best
of Porsche in Alaska.
So step in. Here's your spot. Buckle up, and unleash your dreams!

Thank you, Kendall Porsche!

SeƱor Santos, at Your Service

Often seen roaming the halls with his guitar and delighting classes with smooth rock n roll in Spanish, Lee is a performer wherever he is - which WILL be at your party! An hour of Lee and his guitar and his inimitable self is exactly what turns your party from good to great.

Parent Association Meeting
Tuesday Feb. 2
Celebrate Groundhog Day with the PA! We'll be deviating from our usual agenda to offer a tour of the "inner works" of the PNA Auction. Join us for coffee & morning munchies in the PNA Auction Workroom, get a sneak peak of our amazing baskets-in-progress and see what happens "behind-the-scene" as we prep for PNA Goes Platinum!

Hello Friends,

This afternoon as I sat at my desk, I heard peels and squeals of delight coming from the conference room. I peeked my head around the corner and found the Kindergarten class oohing and aahing over their finished auction project. "It's so cool!" and "Wow!" and "It's actually really comfortable!". They were so excited to see what they had made, and eager to share it with all who wanted to see.

One of my favorite parts of the auction are the class projects. Every year the end product of the connection the teachers, the parents and the kids make in order to raise money for PNA is amazing. Amazingly beautiful, amazingly creative, amazingly unique.

So what DID the Kindergarten class make this year? It's a handmade wooden park bench, and their individual art piece on it is unexpectedly cool. How cool is unexpectedly cool? Come to our First Friday event, and see it for yourself! See all these cool projects and pick out which are your favorites.

They are addictive...I know, I have three of them hanging around my house!

Coming Up Next Week:
 WHY ACE? WHY ELECTIVES?

It's not where you go, it's how you get there. And with a car like this, we suggest you take the long route.

Item of the Week

What's this, you ask? This is littleBits,  the kit that will take your home to the 21st century. It can turn any object into an internet-connected device. Automate your curtains to open at sunrise. Make a remote controlled pet feeder. You can even connect to Minecraft!

littleBits is ALSO what Ms. Bookman's A.C.E. group explored this week, figuring out what they did, what they could be made to do. The kids oohed and ahhed and exclaimed and loved creating circuits that lit up, made noise, and turned fans. They could add switches and sensors to create the machine they wanted.

As Isabela said: "IT WORKS! This is awesome!"

Next week: adding materials (like cardboard, axles, wheels...) to make new inventions.

What We're Looking
for this Week:

We're looking for volunteers
to rock this event!

Like people? Volunteer for attendee
registration,  coat check, game sales and
live auction support.

Have muscles? Volunteer for classroom
set up, silent auction closing, check out
concierge and classroom clean up.

Love paperwork? Volunteer for all things data,  bid processing, item filing and event wrap-up.

We're looking for stuff
to  blow our bidders away!
Right now we need stuff the men in your life want to buy. We are pretty sure that anything that includes airplanes, animals, space, Sriracha sauce, bourbon, skis, snowshoes, coolers, dead fish, live fish, wine, things that go whoosh, things that go bang, things that don't go at all or go really fast, cool gear, gin, vodka, and beer, Star Trek, and Star Wars are all great choices.

But don't just take our word for it... ask the guys, and then go get it!

And remember...
Coffee in the alcove on Thursday mornings.
It's often served with a goodie and great conversation!

Postcards From The Classroom

Pass the cow! At Morning Meeting, there's always a game to play, one that may put you in a position you weren't comfortable with until just that second - like taking a cow from under your friend's chin without using any hands.
Or taking tape off your friend's nose, again without hands!

Or passing the beach ball using your feet. (After organizing yourselves by color.)

Kindergarteners put on a puppet show. First they had to build the stage. Then they had to make their puppets.
THEN they could put on a show!

Beginners explore floatation. What balls sink, what balls float? What do they feel like? WHY would a ball sink or float? Discuss among yourselves -  the Beginners have!
Annabel and Rachel take advantage of a little bit of snow, a lot of sunshine,
 and a fast, fun hill.

Brown Bag Week was (no surprise) a ton of fun and a big success.
Here's a slide show of the week.

Isaac's Vehicles
7/8th graders have been studying Newton's laws of motion.
They designed, tested, redesigned and built their vehicles. The vehicle had to go 1.5 meters, stay within a 1 meter track area, and could only be propelled by the Third Law principle.

Newton's 3rd Law, demonstrated

Love What You See?

You Can Support It!
Your gift benefits today's students and everyone's future.  Spread the word! Don't let PNA be Anchorage's best kept secret.
Let your friends know!

Alumni Out and About

Charlie and Nico Hewitt, Class of '07, are in Utah, performing together for the first time out of Alaska. We don't know the nature of the event, but we're groovin' on Nico's jacket.
(We know its hard to tell...it's a Panthers Ski Team jacket from when Nico was at PNA!)
