Now Accepting Audition Submissions for ASTA Master Classes at the 2014 National Conference in Louisville, KY
March 6-8, 2014

Are you a student looking to participate in a master class, or are you a teacher with a student who would be perfect as a performer in a master class at next year's conference? ASTA now has an avenue for students to upload a recording of their playing directly to ASTA for review by a listening committee. ASTA is now accepting submissions for consideration through November 2013.

Not sure what to submit for your recording? Students should play pieces that best represent their abilities. You may reference the ASTA National Solo Competition Repertoire list to glean levels of repertoire. Again, this is only for reference. Students are NOT required to select repertoire from this list for their master class audition recording.

Technical details for submissions

Recordings
Students should submit video recordings representative of their playing ability for the level and instrument indicated for the class being considered. Applicants may submit 1 or 2 pieces totaling a maximum of six (6) minutes. Do not mix recording samples for different class submissions (i.e. pre-college violin and eclectic styles). Create 2 separate submissions. Be prepared to label your submission recordings with your last name, name of piece being performed.

File types accepted for your uploaded submission include:

Video: mpeg, mpg, mp4, ogg, mov, avi, wmv, m4v, vob

Resume
You will also need to submit a resume outlining your awards and accomplishments. (PDF format is strongly recommended)

Statement of Video Streaming/Recording

Applicants will be required to read and accept the following statement on the application.

I attest to the accuracy of all information on this form. If selected, I understand that I will be responsible for all my own expenses to travel to and participate in the conference. I agree to prepare all music to perform at a high standard. I fully understand and give my consent that ASTA may photograph, videotape, live-stream over the web, and archive the Master Class in which I am a participant. If the class I am participating in is selected, a release form will be presented to me for signature. Non-signature on my part will negate my participation in the class.

Please Note: If you are chosen to perform, notifying ASTA of the actual repertoire to be performed, including composer and edition, will be required by January 15, 2014.

Your submission will be reviewed by the selection committee and notification of student selection status will occur around November 30. For questions about this program please contact Beth Knight at [email protected] or 703-279-2113 ext. 11
