I would like to invite you to a special event that I am sponsoring for my sister Elizabeth Colbert Busch's congressional campaign.  I am so proud of her desire to serve the people of our home state of South Carolina.

Lulu and I have been through a lot together, and I know she is a bright, competent, caring woman who will work hard on behalf of all the citizens of South Carolina's 1st Congressional District.  There are three Democrats and sixteen Republicans running in the Primary, including former Governor and renowned hike-lover Mark Sanford. Our chances look good.

It is rare for me to take an active role in anyone's political ambitions other than my own. But this is different -  beyond a brother's love, I truly believe Lulu is the best candidate to represent my beloved Lowcountry in the United States Congress.

Details on the event and Elizabeth Colbert Busch's bio can be found below.  Thank you for your support, and I look forward to seeing you on February 23rd.

ECB Head ShotFor the past five years, Elizabeth has been the Director of Business Development at Clemson University's Restoration Institute at the former Naval Shipyard in North Charleston in South Carolina. As Director, she has played a key role in bringing about the world's largest wind turbine/grid simulator facility-recognized internationally for both its technology and unique capabilities. Elizabeth also spearheaded the South Carolina Wind Industry's Economic impact findings, which concluded that this sector has already generated thousands of jobs and millions in wages and revenue for SC, with projections of exponential increases in all three areas over the next few years.

Elizabeth wants this generation and the next to be able to embrace the adventures and challenges of tomorrow without the level of uncertainty we are struggling with today. She understands what it is going to take to develop the modern American economy and recognizes that "This is Our Time."

Elizabeth and the "love of her life," husband Claus Busch-who was born and raised in the Charleston area-dote on the three children they've raised together. They are blessed with three grandchildren, with one on the way. They reside in the Charleston area.
