Greetings!

Greetings from Uganda!

Does this photo of baby Peter move you?  I wanted to take a moment to describe his situation from my perspective.  I discovered baby Peter lying limp in his mother's arms at the back of a church service when Melody was speaking.

I was taking photographs and video when suddenly I saw this tiny baby, trying to breathe, fighting for his life.  My whole body went into panic mode.  I could count every rib in his tiny chest.  He was trying to suck on his fingers, but gasping for air.

We have a nick name for Melody here in Uganda; Doctor Melody. She seems to have a keen sixth sense when it comes to finding those with immediate medical emergencies in the village...and these cases usually slip by the rest of us.  This time, I discovered the need...but it was so obvious.  Later I was told he was 6 months old.  I was shocked.  I held Peter who only weighed about 7 lbs.   ben holding peterHis big eyes locked with my eyes.  It was like one of those infomercials for feeding starving kids...but I was holding a REAL LIVE infant.

I can barely describe the emotions I had.  I remembered my own children weighed 9 lbs. each the day they were born.  I was scared to pick him up. I was choking back tears.  He was so frail.  He was burning up with FEVER.  I am not a doctor, but I knew so many things were not right...I knew we had to get him to a hospital (to read the rest of the story) click here: Melody's Blog

Family Sponsorship

As you may have heard, Africa is facing a dilemma.  There are thousands of people starving to death.  Food shortages are the worst they have been in a century.  The communities we are working in have been devastated with famine.  We are currently in a reactionary situation where people need help not tomorrow but today.

Africa Family Rescue wants to prevent further deaths and keep children like Baby Peter, Fina, John, Francis, and Christina alive and thriving.  Our plan is simple; self-sufficiency in 3 years through family sponsorship and micro-business development.  Women like Peter's mother are on our list and waiting for sponsorship so that we can provide food, health care, education and business planning for their future.

The cost for sponsorship is only $70 a month for 3 years and will provide an entire family with the life-saving help they need.  Your family is waiting. Please email Melody today at  melody@pahlow.com  and start helping a family before it is too late. Children like Peter deserve a chance at life.  You are the link between life and death.

"For the poor will never cease from the land; therefore I command you, saying, 'You shall open your hand wide to your brother, to your poor and your needy... Deut 15:11
