Please Help Heal the Pain...
But What Can I Do?

This issue of SBND Community Newsletter is dedicated to those who are making a difference or putting forth an effort to solve social, environmental and economic ills that are plaguing our nation and other countries around the world.

graphic-fist-globe.gif Stop, reflect and ask yourself, "What can I do to help heal the pain of terror in all of its forms:
social, economic, environmental, poverty, gun violence..."

Do I matter?  Can I make a difference?

I think so.  Many are speaking out in various ways according to their belief systems and resources.  Following are articles from only a few so called "little people" in the community and others with larger platforms that are doing something.

In today's world, placing "mission over profit" seems paramount as a driving force behind decisions that may impact others.

Thank you for making a difference...

Happy Holidays
Warmest Wishes for a Wonderful Holiday Season

As a result of recent reports of tragedy all over the news, Sam says it may seem difficult for many to celebrate this holiday season.

But Sam, affectionately known as "The Lasagna Lady" knows personally
there is life past the WHY when tragedy or life happens.

On Thursday, December 17, 2015 from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm, Sam invites you to attend her Private Book Signing Press Reception.  Those who register and attend will receive a FREE copy of her book, "Life Through Lasagna Eyes:  The Recipes for Life."

The book unveils  strategies for healing  the hurt caused by gun violence imposed on our families, friends and neighbors.

She says, " My story is bundled with hope to uplift everyone to soar in the face of tragedy and heartbreak to finding their passion; no matter what."

In support of gun violence prevention and SBND community enterprise capacity building initiatives, click here to learn more, register and attend.

Good food, good company and good holiday cheer.

Use Business to Fix Social Problems
Sunday Sitdown with Marc J. Lane

Lane spoke with Chicago
Sun Times Reporter Sandra Guy about what keeps him believing that the world's problems might yet still be tackled.

" Too many people  - 50 million in the United States - are living in poverty, and philanthropy and downsized government agencies aren't up to the task of tackling all the problems poverty brings with it."

"Many social entrepreneurs and nonprofits have decided to create businesses that create jobs and catalyze private-sector "impact" investors."

2016 SBND Collaboration Survey
What can SBND do to help fill the gap?

According to Dante Mosely, Vice President Business Development Officer at Hyde Park Bank, many entrepreneur and nonprofit organization development programs are doing the same thing.

SBND agrees and wants to expand its partnership base as a registered agent of established institutions and  provide more in-depth services to those who are falling through the gaps or not being served.

What can SBND do to fill that gap or serve as a collaborative registered agent of your community enterprise support network?

To begin the process, take a few moments to complete our survey and receive a COMPLIMENTARY SBND guest pass to Sam's Private Book Signing Press Reception on Thursday, December 17th from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm at Hyatt Place Chicago.

Click here to complete the survey and provide your contact information so we can reserve your seat.
