Unfortunately the Artist Workshop is closed temporarily ...the roof of the entire building will have to be replaced at an estimate of $150K.   Artist Workshop is working with the Marine Discovery Center on the immediate repairs and replacement.  We have loved having the Plein Air Gallery and Gala at the Artist Workshop for the past four Paint Outs...Friends of Canaveral will certainly be assisting with future fundraising for this expensive endeavor.

Canaveral Seashore also suffered considerable damage...although the Park opened Saturday with limited access.  Many boardwalks will have to be replaced and clean-up is still underway.   Also, the little boathouse at Eldora that artists loved to paint, is no longer there...as we say, one of the beauties of plein air is capturing a piece of history on canvas.

We thank you for your patience as we all work together to repair, clean up and reschedule postponed events.  We hope you all have minimal damage from this very powerful storm.

Regards,
Nancy Malmberg & the Paint Out Team

THINGS TO DO
DID YOU KNOW?
Amazing facts about Sponges - sit back and enjoy this video.

Early fossil records show that sponges inhabited Earth around 600 million years ago. That is a mighty long time for an animal without a complex nervous, digestive, or circulatory system!

Some deep-water sponges can live to be over 200 years old.
Sponges are master filters. They can filter an amount of water 100,000 times their size each day! That means a basketball-sized sponge could filter an entire residential pool in one day.

Sponges often use chemicals to deter predators from eating them. Scientists have discovered that some of these chemicals may have potential to treat cancer and HIV.
