Senior Spotlight : Celine Costa
An Article by Principal Brian M. Stack With Contributions From Several Staff Members

Mr. Stack's Note: Each week I like to "spotlight" one senior student who makes contributions to our school community both in and out of the classroom. Students who will be spotlighted are interviewed in advance and staff members contribute to each article.

The stage is going to be an emptier place when Celine graduates. This stand-out senior has certainly made her mark on our stage, a place that has allowed her the opportunity to portray many characters in drama club productions over the years. Performing has helped shape Celine into the confident, outgoing, and successful young woman that she has become. She knows these skills will come in handy next year when she begins her college career with hopes of becoming a teacher.

In the classroom, Celine's teachers speak highly of her grit and determination for learning. French teacher Dee Dunbar-Hambucken, who has had the pleasure of working with her for four years, described her as a student in this way: I have had the pleasure of seeing Celine mature since the beginning of freshman year.  She has always shown an enthusiasm for French and a willingness to try new things.  Celine used to be somewhat shy in class, but has really blossomed into a leader, always volunteering, even at the risk of being incorrect.  What I admire most about Celine is that she has always tried to include classmates in activities.  If she sees someone who is left out, she immediately invites the student to come and be with her, and she does so with a smile.

Social Studies teacher Jerry Wolbert added this about Celine: Celine has one of the most positive attitudes that I've ever seen in a student!  She would come to class everyday with a smile and was always a pleasure to have in class.  She is one of the rare students that you don't often come across, and I am glad to have had the privilege of having her as a student.

Drama club co-advisor Bridgette Doucette added this about Celine: Celine has been a dedicated member of our Theatre Troupe since her freshmen year when she played a part in our ensemble. Since then she has develop a leadership role within our troupe and on the stage. She is passionate, dedicated, hardworking, and truly talented. She will be greatly missed when she goes on to college next year but we all know, in our theatre family, that she will do amazing things.

In addition to drama club, Celine has been very active in the school's Class Council, National Honor Society, and French Club. She has also worked, for the past five years, at Memories Ice Cream in Kingston.

Looking ahead to her plans for this fall, Celine has applied to UNH, Plymouth State, Westfield State, and Saint Anselm's College. She plans to study early childhood education in hopes of becoming a teacher one day. We have no doubt she will be an asset to the field, and children for many years to come will benefit from having someone like Celine by their side. We wish her a successful rest of her senior year!
