Did You Know?

Communication During the Match

In responding to the NRMP's recent communications survey, some of you requested more information about NRMP policies on communication between applicants and programs. The  Match Participation Agreements set forth the NRMP's expectations of programs during the interview and matching process:
  • Programs shall not request applicants to reveal ranking preferences.
  • Programs shall not require applicants to reveal the names or identifies of programs to which they have or may apply.
  • Programs shall act in good faith to provide complete, timely, and accurate information to interviewees, including a copy of the contract the applicant will be expected to sign if matched to the program and institutional policies regarding eligibility for appointment.

Also, the Match Communication Code of Conduct created jointly with the Organization of Program Director Associations includes tips and reminders to promote professional and ethical interaction with applicants. We hope you find these resources helpful.
