Greetings!

Maryjo Pitzel at the Arizona Republic reported today on our effort to help students still facing disenfrachisement because they took advantage of our August federal court victory and registered to vote using the federal form. (click here to read it)

There's more to this story. We estimate 10,000 college and Latino high school students used the federal form between August and the October 9 deadline. Many of them did not receive a mail ballot as requested and now face the challenges of providing ID on November 6 which they do not have. These young citizens - proud Americans, take their right and responsibility to vote seriously but Arizona politicians want to block their vote. These politicians are the same ones who cut education funding by over 20% and handed over $50 million for hurting homeowners to a private prison corporation which supports them with campaign cash. These are actions of ALEC supported politicians, like Senator John McComish, who also are mixed-up in the Fiesta Bowl scandal and on-going FBI investigations.

We're partnering with the Arizona Student Association and the One Arizona 501(c)(3) Latino coalition to reach these voters with three important points:

1. VOTE AT AN EARLY VOTING SITE BEFORE 5pm FRIDAY.  Like a mail in ballot, ONLY YOUR SIGNATURE IS REQUIRED AND YOU AVOID THE ID BARRIERS. Those who receive the recorder's certificate must use it to remove themselves from the "suspense" list and then vote a regular early ballot after completing a form that is equivalent to the envelope used to mail in a ballot.

2. VERIFY YOUR VOTING POLL LOCATION IF YOU VOTE ON NOVEMBER 6. Call 866-OUR-VOTE (866-687-8683) or 888-VE-Y-VOTA (888-839-8682). Even with proper ID, your vote doesn't count if you're at the wrong poll location on November 6.

3. BRING MANY FORMS OF ID TO THE POLLS IF YOU VOTE ON NOVEMBER 6. We're providing the list of ID politicians created as acceptable to vote in our outreach. Note, politicians don't include a state issued student photo ID as acceptable.

Please help us with your tax deductible donation today. It will be used to print material, distribute it on campuses and conduct a social media campaign on Facebook to reach these 10,000 first time, student voters and thousands more already on the active list. Take note, most of these first time voters are in competitive, new districts: LD6, LD10, LD18, LD26 and CD9.

Arizonans deserve free, fair and accessible elections.  Don't let politicians steal them by blocking first-time youth and Latino voters. Learn more today at 4PM when I join David Yerkey on his show "A View from Slightly Off Center" on KXCI-FM Tucson, AZ - 91.3FM and online at www.kxci.org.
