Is your child on the Autism Spectrum or have another special needs challenge? This activity is especially for them. Join us for a morning of building and making new friends. At the Interactive Fiction Club, you may find yourself trapped in a winter world of sprites and dwarves, or struggling to get your skateboard back from a crabby old woman, or called to a mysterious castle to investigate a haunting. SPECIAL NOTE: We just received word that tonight's Parker Lecture featuring Ted Reinstien's will be postponed to a later date. Mr. Reinstein will be reporting tonight as part of a full hour tribute show to the recently departed Mayor Thomas Menino. We will be rescheduling this lecture as soon as we can. Stay tuned for more information.

Ted Reinstein "New England Notebook"

Ted Reinstein is best known around New England as a longtime correspondent for "Chronicle," the celebrated nightly newsmagazine which airs on Boston's ABC affiliate, WCVB-TV.  Ted will be reading from and signing copies of his book "New England Notebook." Children's Shopping Day
The Friends of the Library Needs Your New or Gently Used Stuff!

Why donate? The Friends of the Library is hosting its 3rd Annual "Children's Shopping Day" on Saturday, November 29, 2014-when children ages 4 to 14 can shop for gifts on their own or with the help of friendly library volunteers for families and friends. The children will also get help wrapping and tagging each gift. All proceeds will support library programs. 

We're looking for donations of: Knicknacks Sports Memorabilia Children's books DVDs Unopened Puzzles and games Tools and gadgets Stationary Small Sports equipment Gifs for men or boys
LEGOs Men's ties, scarves, gloves Unopened craft gifts
Toys Women's scarves, jewelry Gift bags, tags, tissue paper

Where and when can I donate? Drop off your donations at the library (downstairs at the Circulation Desk) on Saturday mornings between 10AM and 2 PM. Donations are tax deductable, so don't forget to ask for a Donated gods receipt. 

Come to our event on Saturday, November 29 at the Ground Floor Meeting room of the Pollard Library (401 Merrimack St, Lowell). Enjoy one-stop shopping at the Pollard Library-select from hundreds of items costing between $1 and $5.

Audubon

























Through the Trustees' John A. Davis trust Fund, the Library has generously invested in the archival framing of several Audubon "Birds of America" prints, purchased in 1880. In celebration of the collection's conservation and display, the Lowell Parks & Conservation Trust, the Pollard Memorial Library and the Foundation will be offering a year f programming related to birds, birding, and the rich natural resources of the City of Lowell. Don't forget to come to our kick off event Wednesday, November 5th at 6:30PM in the 2nd floor reference room (Info above).
