Poly Wins Baltimore City Swim Championship
Congrats and kudos go out to the BPI 2017-18 City Boys & Girls Swim Champions! This marks 9 of the last 10 years in 1st place for both teams! Please click here  for all of the incredible results. Pictured at right is the winning team and Taylor Skinner '19, who has won eight gold medals in the last two years! In addition to the city championship title, the Poly relay team set a record for the 200 free relay in the latest regional meet, which beat the Poly record dating back to 1962. Congratulations to this team well worth celebrating, one in a long storied tradition of POLY CHAMPIONS!
Basketball Champs!
Poly Boys & Girls Teams Win Titles
On Saturday, February 17, 2018 the Girl's Varsity and Boy's Varsity Basketball teams traveled to Morgan State University and won the Baltimore City Basketball Championships. The girls defeated the Western Doves 56 - 44 and the boys defeated the Dunbar Poets 54 -37. Congratulations to both teams and we wish them continued success during their drive through the MPSSAA tournament.
Poly Wrestling Finishes Strong
Poly wrestling wrapped up the season in second place in the District IX City Tournament out of 15 schools! Ben Wright, Dylan Jesner, Mervyn Crawford, and Desean Kirton placed first in the tournament. Another outstanding distinction came to Mervyn Crawford who was voted "Most Outstanding Upper Weight" for the tournament. Congratulations to the team, way to make Poly proud!
Ingenuity Project at Poly to Host Spring Events
Mark your calendars! On March 1st, there is an Ingenuity Project Community night at Gertrude's at the BMA. Reserve your table (410) 889-3399 and enjoy a fabulous dinner with great company. Gertrude's donates a portion of their evening's sales to the Ingenuity Project. On April 9th, Ingenuity's 3rd Annual Idea Summit will be held at the American Visionary Arts Museum. Early bird tickets are on sale now until March 1st. Get your ticket or gather friends to purchase a whole table! Visit www.ingenuityproject.org for information. On May 23rd, Ingenuity's 16th Annual Math & Science Symposium will be held at Poly. Students present their culminating research for an audience of scientists, engineers, parents and community members. Their accomplishments will make every Poly alum very proud!
Poly Art News
Matt Adelberg, first year art teacher at Polytechnic is pleased to announce that several Poly students have been selected to participate in a few local arts exhibits and competitions. Leete Doty and Kailah Foremen, AP artists, have been selected to represent Poly and Baltimore City in the Maryland Department of Education upcoming show. There are only 5 students selected from the entire City with Poly capturing 40% of the spots! Kailah Foreman, Audrey Bernier and Cecilia Charney, AP artists have been selected to show at the Young Artists Showcase exhibit/competition. This exhibit/competition includes students from Baltimore City and County, including public and private schools. The awards ceremony is scheduled for Sunday March 25th. Leete Doty, Audrey Bernier and Skylar Ramadan have been accepted into the Best of Maryland Arts Education Festival which is being held on Friday April 20th. This Festival will be held in the Mount Vernon area of Baltimore City at several key historical locations. Alumni Corner: Dr. Charles Johnson-Bey Wins Career Achievement Industry Award
Dr. Charles Johnson-Bey, Polytechnic class of 1984, was awarded the 2018 Black Engineer of the Year Awards (BEYA) Career Achievement Industry Award at the BEYA Gala on February 10, 2018. This award honors those individuals that have made significant achievements in engineering. The selection committee looks at the body of work produced by the nominee, its broad, social and economic value and impact, and the nominee's performance as a role model and mentor for minorities in technology. Dr. Johnson-Bey, who credits Poly for a large portion of his success, stated that "I received my base at Poly which has made all the difference in the world."

8th Annual STEAM Golf Date Announced
It is with great pleasure that we announce the 8 th  Annual STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) Golf Outing, which is set to be hosted again at Oakmont Greens in Hampstead, MD 21074 with 1PM tee off-time on May 21, 2018. The STEAM Golf Outing event would not be possible without all of your valuable support, and we look forward to growing this list of sponsors and participants. See attached flyer for details!
