CRL Recognition Awards 
Help Us Celebrate Rural Heroes

Catholic Rural Life presents two recognition awards on occasion:

1. The first is the I sidore and Maria Exemplary Award for a farm couple who have made exemplary contributions to the achievement of the Catholic vision of a generous, gracious and pious rural life.

2. The second is the  Archbishop O'Hara Advocacy Award for Rural Ministry. This award is for a priest, religious or layperson who has excelled in service and advocacy to rural communities.

Global Day of Prayer for Climate Action
April 5th Marked Day of Worldwide Prayer

April 5th was the Global Day of Prayer for Climate Action.  People of diverse faiths joined together to pray for our planet and its resources.   Catholic Climate Covenant has a number of resources you can use to " deepen our engagement with Catholic teaching on climate change and help transform our hearts and minds".
Pope Francis Prays for Small Farmers
April Prayer Intentions Include Farmers

In his April prayer intentions, Pope Francis intercedes for small farmers, saying, " I thank you, small farmer.  What you do is essential for the life of all."  To hear the whole message, click here.

Food, Faith, and the Environment has this to say about the vocation of farming:  "The farmer, therefore, holds a crucial place in the common family of man and a unique role in the fulfillment of God's plan. For through their determined labor, those who work in agriculture cooperate with divine providence and make manifest God's care for each one of his children. "  Read more here.
Catholic Rural Life Supports Clean Power Plan
CRL Joins a number of Catholic Institutions 
 
" Citing a moral obligation to care for the natural world and all inhabitants of the earth, 30 Catholic and faith-based institutions filed an amicus brief with a federal appeals court in support of the Clean Power Plan.

The brief argues that the Environmental Protection Agency has the duty to protect human health from harmful pollution in ways outlined in the plan, which establishes federal limits on carbon emissions from coal-fired power plants."
