Lenten Drives Support Special Needs and Camilla Hall Sisters
Students participated in two drives this Lenten season which were spearheaded by the Student Council and faculty moderator Mrs. Becker. The first drive raised over $1500 to support the Catholic School Students for Catholic Charities Appeal. Proceeds were earmarked to schools that teach students with mental and physical handicaps including Out Lady of Confidence Day School, St. Lucy Day School for Children with Visual Impairments & Archbishop Ryan Academy for the Deaf and St. Katherine Day School.  Students received a dress down day in appreciation for their support. The second drive was the annual drive for Camilla Hall which helps the retired and infirmed Sisters of the IHM. Students collected, packed and delivered personal care items to Camilla Hall and assisted the Sisters while they "shopped." The IHM Sisters truly appreciate all the love, prayers and support from our PJP II School community.

 Breakfast with the Easter Bunny

PreK and Kinder students had a "hippity hoppity" time during the annual Breakfast with the Easter Bunny. Afterwards, students had fun on an easter egg hunt.
Student Artwork Selected for Confirmation Retreat
Sixth grader Claire Fader's t-shirt design was selected to be worn at the annual Saints A.L.I.V.E. Confirmation Retreat recently held at PJP II High School in Royersford.  Over 500 attendees from 10 parishes including those from Claires parish, St. Peter Church in West Brandywine, wore the "One in the Holy Spirit" themed t-shirt. Claire's t-shirt will be exhibited at the Archdiocesan Showcase of Excellence at Immaculata University in Malvern on April 4th.  Pictured below in her winning t-shirt is Claire (second from left) with some of her fellow classmates and confirmands from St. Peter Church who also attended the retreat.

First Resource Bank Helps School Families
First Resource Bank President and CEO Glenn Marshall recently presented a $15,000 check to the school to help school families with tuition assistance. The EITC program allows businesses and now individuals through the SPE (Special Purpose Entity) Program to redirect their state tax dollars to schools, which in turn offer scholarships to qualified families.  The Program currently benefits 150 students (23% of PJPII"s student body) who have qualified for these scholarships. Our deepest gratitude to First Resource Bank for their continued support of Pope John Paul II School and the EITC program.  If you are a business owner or individual writing a check to the State of Pa every year and would like to learn more about how you can participate in the EITC and SPE programs, please contact the Advancement Office at 610.384.5961 x5408. Your support will offer more families a chance to experience a Catholic education at PJP II School!
Student Athlete Earns Bid to States
Fourth grader Leo Pezzone has been wrestling for 4 years and for the first time recently qualified to go to this year's PJW (Pa Jr. Wrestling) State Championships. Leo came away with an admirable 2-2 record for the weekend. He currently competes at the local, state and national level for the Malvern Prep Youth Club Team and Kid Raiders.  Leo loves the sport and shares a strong bond with his fellow wrestlers.  Leo certainly possesses all of the qualities to be a successful wrestler: hard work, dedication and discipline. We look forward to keeping an eye on Leo's future wrestling accomplishments. Congratulations Leo!
