Highlights of Catholic Schools Week 2017
Members of the school's Student Council welcomed new families to the school's Open House on January 29th.
Beautiful artwork completed by the students in Mrs. Fader's Art class lined the hallways.
Faculty and staff including Sr. Anne and Sr. Marianne were on hand to greet students and their families.
The Library was buzzing as the Scholastic Book Fair, themed "Happy Camper...S'more Fun with Books", was underway. Mrs. Powell, Librarian, organizes this annual event.
Teachers set up displays outside their classrooms which included samples of student work and projects completed this year.
Science Fair projects were on display in the school Gymnasium for everyone to view. The top five students from grades 4-8 will advance to the next round of competition.
Favorite sneaker/sock day kicked off the school week.
Crazy hair/hat day followed.
Organized by Mrs. Ponto, Gym teacher and lead referee, the annual Flag Football Super Bowl took place mid-week. Defending their title was Mrs. Fedor's "Bon Bon Wildcat" team.
Students cheered on their teachers as they went head to head in a "Minute to Win It"Assembly. Pictured above is 2nd grade teacher Mrs. McKenna winning the "Paper Dragon" game. Many thanks to the Home & School for all their efforts in making this year's Catholic School's Week a memorable experience!
The week concluded with First Friday Mass and Blessing of the Throats which is celebrated on February 3rd, the feast day of St. Blaise. Sister Beverly assisted with the Blessing.
Community outreach took place throughout the week including a penny drive to benefit the Brandywine Valley SPCA and a collection of "wish list" items that were donated to the Veterans Admin., Child Life Dept. of CHOP and Hope Lodge, an affiliate of the American Cancer Society. Many thanks to our students and their families for their generous support.
PJP II Wins District Spelling Bee
For the eleventh consecutive year, PJP II's elementary school team of 3rd -5th graders won the District trophy. In addition, sixth grader Brady M. will advance to the Chester County Spelling Bee competing against 56 other schools for a spot in the National Spelling Bee held in Washington, D.C. Congrats to all our participants and medal winners.
Eighth Grade Bake Sale
The 8th grade class recently hosted a Bake Sale to raise monies for their class gift. A special tribute gift in honor of the IHM Sisters will be unveiled in late Spring. Many thanks to all the students and teachers who supported this event. It was a "sweet" success!
Scouts Thank Local Police
Wolf den from PJP II's Pack16 presented West Brandywine Township police officers with popcorn collected from the community as a thank you for their service.
