Donations to the Poplar Grove foundation are greatly needed, very much appreciated and tax deductible. Please help support the plantation so that we may continue to have events like the Christmas Open House, and offer educational programs for students and visitors. Thank you.

A Simply Wonderful Christmas!
The scenic Plantation is beautifully trimmed in its holiday finest for the annual Christmas Open House, Sunday, December 4th Noon to 5:00PM. Visitors are welcomed into the 1850 manor house, beautifully decorated for the holidays, for a complimentary self-guided tour. It's been a tradition since the museum opened thirty-one years ago. Poplar Grove Director, Nancy Simon says "The free open house is the plantation's way of saying thank you to the community for their support and also our way of wishing everyone a Merry Christmas."
Visitors may wander throughout the rooms of the former family home where, in addition to Christmas decorations, holiday artwork created by the Cape Fear Woodcarvers, Cape Fear Rug Hookers and Carolina Blue Bee Quilters are on display. Some of these artisans will be demonstrating their crafts during the afternoon.
In the Cultural Arts Center and in the back of the manor house the Holiday Craft Fair offers a wide variety of unique and handmade gifts. Free hot cocoa and cookies are served by Poplar Grove staff members, a part of the annual tradition. More great gifts created by local artists can be found in the museum shop.
Little ones will find Santa on the porch of the tenant house while inside by the fire, Mrs. Claus reads Christmas stories. The entire family can enjoy a hayride through pristine Abbey Nature Preserve. The Hayride is $5 per person.
Come to Poplar Grove Sunday, December 4th for an old fashioned and simply-wonderful prelude to the Christmas season.
Historic Poplar Grove Plantation is a non-profit organization dedicated to education, preservation and service to the community.
