MAINTENANCE LOG
As most of you are aware, the northern lake is experiencing a considerable algae issue. Through the Association’s vendor and partnership with Clemson University related specifically to Power Ranch’s algae concern, it has been learned that this particular strain of algae is something never seen before in this region.  The southern lake has experienced this same issue and has been considered the “test” lake for treatments, as traditional methods of elimination and maintenance have simply not been effective. The south lake is looking significantly better, and the appropriate levels of chemicals necessary to “maintain” are being evaluated. Similar treatments have since begun on the northern lake. Many have asked about “skimming” the top of the lake. This is an option that has been explored. However, there are significant concerns as this will generate more sunlight to the bottom of the lake which, in turn, causes the algae to re-generate. A black dye has even been used to lower the sun penetration, as unfortunately, sunlight is a contributing factor to algae growth. Please know that the Association is evaluating all potential avenues and is doing everything possible to bring the lakes into a biological balance. This will result in the beautiful setting that is so desired by all. Your patience through this unfortunate situation is greatly appreciated.

You may notice rigging equipment at the corner of Los Altos and Power Road which will be visible for the next few weeks. Well 7 is currently under repair as a new stainless steel sleeve will be installed. Please feel free to contact the Management Office at (480) 988-0960 with any questions and/or concerns that you may have.

LANDSCAPE UPDATES
The renovation crew completed the dethatching process of the over-seeded parks throughout the community. A total of five over-sized construction dumpsters were filled and removed for recycling during the dethatching process.

Crews applied granular fertilizer to the athletic fields throughout the community.

Post-emergent was applied to eliminate any weeds in the granite areas of the Willows, Timbers, Orchards, and Oaks. The tree rings in the turf areas are also being touched up to help protect and provide a buffer from any potential damage from the regular trimming.

The puncture vine that treated throughout the Arbors Main Park has rapidly declined. The eradication of this weed will require regular pre and post-emergent applications. Four Peaks crews are continuing to monitor this area.

Next week, a crew will complete the final post-emergent application at the Queen Creek entrance on the west side of Ranch House Parkway in preparation for the turf conversion scheduled in July. The conversion will eliminate turf from the excessively shaded areas, and include the installation of new plant material, curbing, granite, and an update of the existing irrigation components.
