April
Maintenence Log
Power Ranch has three wells that provide water to the two lakes. There are two pump stations located adjacent to each lake that pump that water throughout the community for the landscape and turf. The wells are named Well 5, Well 6, and Well 7.  Well 7, at Los Altos and Power Roads, is under repair and the rigging has arrived as a part of the process. It may be at this location for several weeks and until all the repairs and related evaluations are completed. Questions about the process can be directed to the Power Ranch office at 480-988-0960.

The lakes in general, especially the southern lake, is experiencing significant algae “pop-up” blooms. This is extremely early in the season to see such an effect and is caused by two scenarios. First, it was not cold enough this winter to kill the original algae growth from last summer. In addition, and through the Association’s vendor and a recent partnership with Clemson University related specifically to the algae, it has been learned that the strain of algae is something never seen before in this region. This means the traditional methods of treatment have not been effective in resolving the situation. To assist in combatting the problem the lake maintenance vendor has switched to black dye instead of the blue dye to try to lower sun penetration to the bottom of the lake and thus deter algae growth. In addition, and commencing this next week, the lakes will be treated with an agent that will assist in breaking down the algae and then additional bacteria will be added to eat the remaining “pop-up” blooms. In the end, the lakes are a living body of water and the Association is doing everything possible to bring them into appropriate biological balance and provide an aesthetically pleasing setting. Your patience is appreciated.

Landscape Updates
The Arbor Crew began the April tree trimming which consists of a large number of Palo Verde and Mesquite Trees in the Groves neighborhood indicated on the map.

Last week, post-emergent was applied to eliminate any weeds in the granite areas of The Villages, Timbers, Willows, and Grange.

In the Knolls, the crew continued their regular maintenance schedule which had them near the homes around the Woodside Way and Ranger intersection.

In the Villages, the crew continued their routine maintenance schedule to the homes along the southeastern corner of Rim and Sante Fe.

The irrigation crew has been performing checks on the Cottonwood trees throughout the community.

This week in the Knolls, the crew will perform removal of two small oak trees that are against the pool equipment area at the Posse pool. The trees are dropping an excessive amount of material, causing constant issues to the pool pump equipment. A few new Orange Jubilee will be installed in their place and fill the area and provide some additional color.
4089 East Wagon Circle in the Groves neighborhood consistently exemplifies a well-maintained landscape.

Time to paint your home? If your home has not been painted in 7-10 years, it's time. Find the perfect paint color at   www.mypowerranch.com . It is easy to select a pre-approved paint scheme and download an application without leaving your house.

Remember, colors viewed on a computer screen or when printed may not be an exact representation of the actual pigment color. When matching is critical, please refer to original color chips as a reference.

Are you planning on painting your home? Please submit your Design Modification Application well in advance of your scheduled painting date. It can take up to seven business days to receive an approval, and waiting until the last minute to submit can result in a lost painting date or a missed deadline. You can submit up to 60 days in advance.
