Powerful Storm Season                             JUNE 2015

Powerful Storms Predicted Despite Below-Avg Season

The 2015 NOAA's Atlantic hurricane season forecast calls for a 70% likelihood of:  6-11 named storms, 3-6 becoming named hurricanes, and 0-2 major hurricanes of at least Category 3 strength on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale.  While the season is forecasted below-average for activity, one cannot rule out 1-2 storms that can make a significant impact to the United States coastline.

In Florida, residents must be vigilant in preparing for the hurricane season, which begins June 1 and ends November 30.  A resident's most important investment is their home and belongings.  The Miami-Dade Building code requirements maintain the most stringent requirements for hurricane protection products.  All shutters installed by Majors Home Improvement meet these requirements.   Learn more about qualified hurricane protection products for your home below.

Aluminum Hurricane Panels   T hese panels secure to the outside of a home using bolts or tracks.  Typically 3 overlapping panels are installed for an average size window.  The size and weight of these panels are manageable and customizable to the opening.   Clear polycarbonate panels are also an option to allow light into the structure.

Accordion Hurricane Shutters Accordion Shutters unfold easily to cover and protect during a storm.  When not in use, they remain permanently affixed to your window, which eliminates the need for storage.  These shutters move on tracks installed at the top and bottom of the window and glide open like curtains.

Colonial Hurricane Shutters  Colonial shutters are often considered "decorative," but these shutters are made of materials capable of withstanding hurricane force winds.  Colonial shutters are permanently affixed to your structure and can be easily closed in the event of a storm.

  • Easily operated by one person
  • Aligns with architecture of your home

Roll-Down Hurricane Shutters  When properly installed roll-down shutters  have a minimal impact on the architectural integrity of your home.  When not in use, these shutters are stored in an enclosed box above your window.  For an impending storm, you can manually lower them with crank handles from inside or outside the home, or automatically lower with an electric motorized option.
  • Can be automatically deployed
  • Easily operated by one person

Question:
How does your company help out in the community?
- J. Shepherd

Mike's Reply:  Thank you for your question.  Majors Home Improvement has been involved in several local community initiatives.  In the past, we participated in Oprah's Big Give Northwest Florida which supported families with the United Cerebral Palsy and ARC Gateway.  In 2014, we began a new partnership with the United Way of Santa Rosa County called Majors Helps.  Each year, the community can advocate for a friend, neighbor, or family member in need of home repair.  Projects include repair or replacement of windows, doors, hurricane shutters or vinyl siding or minor kitchen or bath repair.  The 2015 winner is the Stone family of Milton.  Follow the project transformation on our Facebook page.  If you would like to volunteer to help, contact the United Way of SRC here

Majors Helps program is open to owners of single-family dwellings only. Recipients must own the home in which the products are to be installed. Mobile homes or commercial structures are not eligible.  See complete submission guidelines here.

Majors Home Improvement offers replacement entry and sliding doors, vinyl siding, hurricane shutters, sunrooms & enclosures, screen rooms & patio covers, and kitchen & bath remodels.  Learn more about our products and services here.

GuildQuality Service Excellence Award
Majors Home Improvement Recognized as Big50 Service Winner
Majors Home Improvement has been awarded a 2015 Big50 Service Excellence Award for exceptional customer service. GuildQuality, an independent customer satisfaction surveying  company, powered the award on behalf of Remodeling magazine to celebrate service excellence within the Big50 Program.

"Remodeling admires GuildQuality's dedication to helping remodelers deliver the best possible customer service," said Craig Webb, Remodeling's editor-in-chief. "That's why we invited GuildQuality to present the Service Excellence Awards during our annual Remodeling Leadership Conference Awards Dinner. We both want to honor the best of the best, and more often than not you'll find that a member of that elite group is there in part because of GuildQuality."

Majors Home Improvement was selected as one of the top Big50 class members by GuildQuality and Remodeling for superior delivery of customer care.

In granting awards, GuildQuality and Remodeling consider three primary metrics for each candidate: the percentage of customers who would recommend the company, the percentage of 3s and 4s across all questions, and the percentage of customers who responded. Majors Home Improvement achieved a recommendation rate of 94% from customers surveyed through GuildQuality.  Over 40 companies applied and Majors Home Improvement was one of five companies selected for our commitment to customer service.
