Skills Learned:   The first blocks are Beginner Level and teach the required skills. The rest of the blocks each teach a new technique. The last three sessions will cover Blocking, Joining, and Borders. See Schedule Below for details.

Skills Required: The January Classes will be Beginner Level, no previous experience needed! Starting in February, basic crochet skills required. (Chain, Single Crochet, Half-Double Crochet, Double Crochet, Slip Stitch). Tutoring Sessions will be available for anyone wanting to catch up!

We will be learning 12 new crochet stitches and making blocks to turn into a sampler afghan. 15 sessions (One per stitch, 1 blocking, 1 joining, 1 border) [P.S. I'm working with Verna re yarn and making a sample for in the store. Pattern will be posted after sample made to ensure correct yarn amounts and pictures!]
 
"Beginner Blocks" by Vintage Vixen Designs Pattern

*This course will cost $15 per session. You can attend all 16 classes or pick and choose the classes that fit your schedule. The patterns cost $2.50 each, but all thirteen can be pre-purchased as an eBook for $30.00. The eBook also includes design recommendations and instructions for blocking, joining, and borders.

After School Fiber Arts Fun! with Erin ($60)
Tuesday, March 6, 13, 20, & 27 from 4 -5:30PM

This month, we will be concentrating on knitting. Students will make their own spool knitters and learn basic knitting skills. We'll use our spool knitters, knitting needles, and even just our fingers to knit. (Not our toes, though-too stinky!) If you have a project started, this could be a way to get it finished!
 
Skills Learned: Finger knitting, spool knitting, knitting with needles, creative use of I-cord
Skills Required: Curiosity and a sense of adventure!

Knit this striking hat with intriguing construction for yourself or a friend!
 
Skills Learned: Provisional Cast On, German Short Rows (Erin's Favorite!), Kitchener Stitch for Garter Stitch, Using a Chart for Short Rows
Skills Required: Short Rows, Basic Kitchener. Having worked with more than one color before is a plus.
 

Copy.Cat C.C Beanie with Erin ($30)
Tuesday, March 6, 13, & 20, from 1:30-2:30PM
 
This is a great class for advanced beginners! We'll learn to do a provisional cast on to make a folded brim, as well as using decreases to shape the crown of our hat.
 
Skills Learned: Provisional Cast On, Folded Brim, Working in the Round, K2tog
Skills Required: Proficiency with basic knitting, knit and purl
 

Norwegian Mittens with Mitzi Brunsdale ($60)
Tuesdays, March 6, 13, & 20, from 1 -2:30PM
This class will deal with the knitting of Norwegian mittens (Selbuvotter), with two-color knitting in the round.
 
Skills Learned: Knitting with two colors following chart; knitting in the round
Skills Required: Casting on; the knit stitch; perhaps some experience with 4 needle knitting (Europeans might use 5).

Knitting with Unspun Icelandic Yarn with Deborah Nelson ($30)

Unspun Icelandic is an extraordinary long-fibered fleece that knits up to a feather light, exceptionally warm fabric. We will learn some tricks and tips to make a successful project. This particular shawl pattern is fun and full of interesting techniques.
 
Skills Learned: How to knit with unspun wool, spit splicing, lace, knitted on edging, eyelet garter cast-on
Skills Required: Advanced beginner - intermediate skills

This class will work on a Hooded scarf in traditional Aran knitting patterns.

After School Fiber Arts Fun! with Erin ($60)
4 Tuesdays from 4:00 to 5:30pm
 
This month, we will be exploring felting! Learn more about wool fibers while making fun projects, including felt pictures and beads.
 
Skills Learned: Make your own felt using several different methods. Use the felt you make to create beautiful gifts! (Or keep for yourself!)
Skills Required: Being an awesome kid!

Beatrix Bunny with Madeline Revier ($45)
Wednesdays 4-5pm or Thursdays 5-6pm
 
"Beatrix Bunny" is an amigurumi-style softie, a small stuffed toy made of crocheted fabric. Softies are perfect gifts for babies and children, and Beatrix Bunny is a perfect Easter decoration!
This class is a great introduction to softies. Class will meet three times, with additional tutoring available.

Building Blocks with Carla Myrum ($15/session)
New classes starting in the fall!

“Building Blocks” is a series of 12 fun patterns that will build your knitting skills. Starting with simple knit and purl stitches, your confidence will grow as you progress through several major knitting principles. Each block focuses on new stitches and techniques in a sequential fashion that “builds” upon the previously learned skill. At the end of the series, the knitter is rewarded with an abundance of knitting know-how and 12 beautiful squares to assemble into a sampler afghan, baby blanket, pillows. Requires 10 skeins of worsted weight yarn and purchase of a Building Blocks instruction book for $19.95.

Learn to knit lace on these small, low-key projects! This month, we will work on the Ribbon Lace and Leaf Lace Washcloth and Soap Sack sets. Next month, look forward to learning to knit lace in the round with the Old Shale Washcloth and Soap Sack set.
 
Skills Learned: Yarn overs, decorative decreases, intro to reading charts, provisional cast on, three needle bind off.
Skills Required: Proficiency in basic knitting skills. Ability to crochet a chain is a plus, but not required.
