Stand up for veterans

One of our very own 3rd graders, Libby Marsh, is once again organizing a toiletry drive for the Heart of America Stand Down organization supporting homeless veterans.

Please bring in new, unopened toiletries items and drop them in the camouflage boxes provided in the classroom. Items will be collected on 11/3. Here is a list of what's needed:
  • Shampoo
  • Conditioner
  • Soap
  • Toothpaste/Toothbrushes
  • Dental Floss
  • Shaving Cream
  • Razors/Blades
  • Deodorant
  • Lotion
  • Sunscreen
  • Bandages
  • Mending Kits
*No mouthwash please.

The class that donates the most items will earn a donut and hot chocolate party. Click here to learn more about Libby's mission and how you can help.

Red Ribbon Week is Next Week

Since 1985, the Red Ribbon Campaign has served as a symbol of the commitment to raise awareness of the destruction caused by drugs in America. Red Ribbon Week serves as a reminder for communities to support the education of youth for drug awareness and encourage participation in drug prevention activities.

The city of Prairie Village and Prairie Elementary School partner in this commitment by bringing D.A.R.E. to our school children.

Help your student support the Red Ribbon Campaign every day this week:
  • Monday -Wear a hat to school
    - "Put a cap on drugs!"
  • Tuesday - Wear sunglasses to school - "Your future looks bright!"
  • Wednesday - Wear crazy socks to school - "Sock it to drugs!"
  • Thursday - Wear a team jersey - "Be a part of the DRUG-FREE team!"
  • Friday - Wear a tie for the day! - "Be fly...wear a tie!"

Volunteer for the Book Fair!

The Fall Book Fair is almost here - and we need your help to make it run smoothly! Sign up here  to work a shift or two Thursday, November 3 or Friday, November 4 between 7:45 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Anxious to see what's available? You can access Prairie's Scholastic book fair link here The online fair opens October 28th and runs through November 11th.

All purchases benefit Prairie's programming. This is a great way for aunts, uncles, grandparents, etc. to be able to support Prairie!

Special Guests Day Nov. 4

Special Guests Day is right around the corner! Help your student print out this letter  to deliver to his/her special guest. If your special guest will be eating lunch with your student, please fill out this form  and return with payment by October 27th .

Remind guests to bring their invitation with them so we can help them locate their student as quickly as possible!

If you'd like to volunteer for this event from 10:30-1:30 please email Stacey Winfield.

Save the Date for the Auction!
We're excited to announce that the 2017 auction is scheduled for  Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the VOX Theater. Tickets will go on sale soon.

The auction is Prairie's largest fundraiser and is always a great time - but we need your help to make it happen. Click here to learn more about why we do the auction and what it supports.
