Dear Friends,
Regardless of your political bent, we all realize how challenging this election cycle has become. The Episcopal Church is responding by offering opportunities for prayer. Many Dioceses are offering all sorts of good resources. Our own Bishop Gates has called for a 48 hour vigil from Noon on Sunday, November 6th until noon on Election Day. As he writes,"As our nation approaches its Election Day on Nov. 8, we have a deep yearning for the Holy Spirit to be present in our national life. Individually, we express this yearning in a variety of ways according to personal conscience. Collectively, we are called to express this yearning through prayer." The rest of the statement may be found here.
Forward Movement, a daily devotional of Scripture- based reflections has produced weekly prayers for our use beginning this Sunday, October 9th. They may be found here.
Every election is important and maybe the reason we are at such a point is because we haven't always considered the importance of past elections which led up to this state of affairs. Please continue to pray for sound government.
Almighty God, to whom we must account for all our powers and privileges: Guide the people of the United States in the election of officials and representatives; that, by faithful administration and wise laws, the rights of all may be protected and our nation be enabled to fulfill your purposes; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. - Book of Common Prayer, page 822
- Debbie

This week, our monthly Young and the Restless Chapel will celebrate Creation at
9:00 am. All people are invited to this service designed for the spiritual needs of infants, toddlers and young children.
At 10:30 am, we will receive our first Stewardship Epistle from Jonathan Bailly. The readings recount stories of lepers and ways one lived generously by offering thanks to Jesus.
At 5:00 pm, at the Celtic Evensong and Communion, Joanne Moar will give the reflection on Living Generously. We now have a four volunteer musicians offering meditative and Celtic music. If you'd like to join us, please speak to Ryan Patten.
Please join us wherever you are in your search for meaning.

Yes, I go to the Episcopal Church
(though I'm not quite sure what that means)
|
We each have our own story to tell of how we landed here, and we each have our own way of exploring what this means. You are invited to come on Sundays at 6:00 pm for a light hearted yet informative look at the Episcopal Church. The study will begin this Sunday and meet the following Sundays: October 2, 16 and November 6, 13 and 20 for approximately one hour.
