Dear Hennepin Community:

The season of Lent is approaching, a time to reflect on the fragility of our lives and God's ever-present companionship with us on our life's journey. As a faith community we will once again hear the stories of Jesus' courage and faithfulness to God's call on his life and seek to pattern our lives after his. His death and resurrection becomes the fabric of our life together and we are reminded of this deep wisdom in these days when we are called to celebrate the lives of some from our community who have passed from this life into eternity.

Deloris Brain died on January 27th and her service was held at Colonial Acres on January 31st. Deloris was a member of Hennepin Church since 1950 and she and her husband Phil were active in many of the church's ministries.

Curtis Oliver passed away on January 29th and a service celebrating his life will be held in the early spring. Curtis was active on Reconciling Ministries and was a gifted church musician and composer whose music was sung in worship by both the Sanctuary Choir and congregation. He was an active lector and frequent contributor to our devotionals.

Mary Hewitt passed away February 4th at Methodist Hospital. Mary was a faithful member of the Thursday Morning Bible Study and was active in various areas of the church. Her quiet, strong presence was a gift to all who met her. We will celebrate her life this Sunday, February 11th at 2:00pm in the sanctuary.

As we make our way in these winter days, may we hold these loved ones and their families in our hearts and in our prayers.

In blessings and peace,

Sally Howell Johnson
