If you or a friend is a pre-certified Deaf interpreter in the DC-area with a flexible Friday afternoon schedule, please read and share this announcement. This fall our community partner, Gallaudet Interpreting Services, will be hosting 12 weeks of on-site study group meetings for the CDI written test. GIS let us know that they may have space for additional participants and wanted to reach out to more DIs. We know many of you will not be able to come to campus on a Friday, but if this works for you, we hope you can join!
If you meet the requirements below, please email me to indicate your interest. Once they receive a list from me, GIS will let you know if you are selected as a participant.
Program description: Pre-certified Deaf interpreters will prepare for RID's certification exam for CDIs. During this CDI Knowledge Exam study group, Deaf interpreters will discuss the exam, review information needed to be successful, and practice exam skills. The 12-week series will end with a mock test, and participants are expected or encouraged to schedule their exam with RID as soon as possible after the series concludes.
Dates and time: Fridays, Sept 12- Dec 5, 3:30-5pm
Location: On-site at Gallaudet University
Who should attend: Deaf interpreters who can commit to at least 6 of the study sessions.You must also meet the pre-requisites below

Pre-requisites:
- You have an associate's degree in any field, or will complete one by Dec 2014
- You have experience as a Deaf interpreter
- You can commit to attending at least 6 of the study sessions
- You meet RID's training requirements for CDI Knowledge Exam candidates (or will meet them by Dec 2014).
- 8 training hours - RID Code of Professional Conduct
- 8 training hours - Introduction to Interpreting
- 8 training hours - Process of Interpretation
- 16 training hours - General Interpreter Knowledge and Skills
