Trees For Your Landscaping

Fall tree planting is around the corner!

Wanting that established look for your front or back yard?

Both locations have an incredible selection of gorgeous trees that will provide not only an established look
but also instant shade from Oklahoma's
unbearable heat.
September Maintenance Guidelines

After years of working in the industry and building a nursery business around Oklahoma's inclement weather, we are suggesting the following maintenance guidelines:

*Last nitrogen fertilizer application of the year on warm-season grasses should be applied no later than September 15.

* Plant your container and evergreen trees.

* Get ready for mums, pansies, and kale fall plantings.

Select your deciduous B & B (Ball & Burlap) trees for fall/winter planting.

* Pre-emerge using Orzalyn (Surflan),  ferti-lome For All Seasons II Lawn Food Plus Crabgrass and Weed Preventer containing prodiamine (Barricade) or
Hi-Yield Turf and Ornamental Weed & Grass Stopper to keep annual bluegrass from emerging.

*Apply  Hi-Yield Grub Free Zone II to keep mole crickets, shorttailed crickets, and white grubs away all season long.

The ______  weed variety is one of the most common and major weed problems for residential and commercial lawns in Oklahoma.

Each small plant can produce about 100 seeds in as few as ____ weeks.

Dahlia's Answer: annual bluegrass (Poa annua), eight weeks

Dahlia's Dirt!

Annual Bluegrass (Poa annua): This Is NOT A Festival!

Annual bluegrass (Poa annua) is commonly referred to at Marcum's Nursery as "Po anna." Due to its scientific name, Poa annua tells us this grassy weed is not only an annual but also an annual nuisance to Oklahomans!

This common weed is a major problem for Oklahoma residential and commercial lawns as well as highly maintained turfgrasses used for sporting events world-wide.
