october 2014
Hello! It's October!

I'm super excited that it's fall! Even though it means I didn't quite accomplish my summer goals and it's the end of our garden (as well as the start of my school visit schedule), it also means my new Ling and Ting book will be out soon! Yes, book #4: Ling and Ting: Twice as Silly is coming!

Unfortunately, with Rain Dragon being in her full toddler glory plus all the work I have to do on the upcoming 4th book (!) and the new novel, I'm not able to do a big book party like I've done in the past. But that doesn't meant I don't love the book! I actually think it's the best book in the series (so far) and because I'm sooo excited about it, you can...
Pre-order an autographed Ling and Ting: Twice as Silly!
and get a surprise gift from me

pre-order an autographed copy!

Ling and Ting: Twice as Silly is coming! Pre-order your copy  (and/or any other books by me) at my local bookstore, Broadside Books,  and I will autograph the book plus include a surprise small gift (maybe a magnet...maybe a pin...maybe a pocket pacy! You'll have to see what you get!).

You can pre-order a personalized autographed copy HERE , just add to whom you'd like the book to be autographed to in the "order comments" section at checkout.

Or you can call Broadside Books at 413-584-4235 and place your order over the phone!

Not only will you receive the surprise gift from me (I promise it will be nice!), you'll be supporting a great local independent bookstoreYou may remember from my last newsletter that Amazon is in dispute with my publisher, so they are not shipping my books out in a timely manner. This, unfortunately, makes it quite difficult for my new book (or really any of my books) to be successful.

So, please, please consider supporting this bookstore or any other bookstore near you!

Meet My Friends!
Inside the Author Studio with Lisa Yee!
Me and Lisa Yee (before my haircut)
This month, I'm proud to introduce author Lisa Yee! I'm sure you already know her super popular and awesome books, such as Millicent Min, Girl Genius and Stanford Wong Flunks Big Time. Not only are they funny, they break stereotypes and give us real, authentic Asian-American characters. I have a hard time choosing which of Lisa's books I like best as they are all equally hilarious and heartwarming. Which is a lot like Lisa, herself, actually.

I gave Lisa a little "Behind the Author's Studio" questionnaire that she filled out in a way only Lisa could! Enjoy!

1. Your bookshelves are organized by...

Autographed books have their own shelves, others are by type -- picture book, MG, YA, etc. however, they have not met the Dewey Decimal System yet.

2. What is the pen name you wished you had?

Montblanc

3. Your celebrity date to the premiere of the movie based on your book is...

Well, duh. Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy, of course.

4. The book you wished you wrote/illustrated?

The Arrival by Shaun Tan

5. The book you are embarrassed you haven't read (yet)?

The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy

6. If souls were flowers (Anne of Avonlea reference), your soul would be?

Orange blossom, fragrant and the bearer of good luck -- at least that's what I'd want it to be.
