JOHN PRINE Live at The Basement East - Monday, April 30th @ 7PM
John Prine is releasing his first new album of original material in 13 years! The album is called The Tree Of Forgiveness and it will be out April 13th. John Prine will play an exclusive show at The Basement East on April 30th at 7PM for fans who buy his album at Grimey's. Preorder the CD or vinyl at Grimey's to be on the guest list for the show at The Basement East.

The highly-anticipated album, The Tree of Forgiveness, is Prine's first collection of new material since 2005's Grammy-winning Fair and Square. Rather than going out on a limb, Prine cultivated the themes that have brought international acclaim since the 1970s. For example, he can take a topic like loneliness and make it funny or heartbreaking. Prine teamed with Grammy-winning producer Dave Cobb to record in Nashville's historic Studio A, enlisting friends like Brandi Carlile, Jason Isbell, and Amanda Shires to sing along. The songs are new, although some had waited to be finished for decades, like a co-write with Phil Spector called "God Only Knows." Another incomplete song, "I Have Met My Love Today," now celebrates the unexpected spark that leads to lifelong romance -- with a dash of youthful innocence. The musical arrangements may be simpler than on past efforts, yet his unique ability to distill complex emotions into everyday language remains fully intact.

The CD will be released on April 13th and you can stop back in at Grimey's to pick up your CD anytime from that date forward. The vinyl has been delayed until May. We are checking with the label to see if we may be able to have the vinyl in hand on April 30th so you can pick up your records at the show. We'll communicate the details on vinyl pick-up to all who preorder vinyl.

Preorders are initially exclusive to in-person sales at Grimey's. If we still have slots available, we will begin taking orders over the phone this Thursday, April 5th, when we open at 11AM (615-254-4801).
