Roads are Opening!  Come Play in the Mountains 

Forest Road 52, Skate Creek Road between Packwood and Ashford, opens May 5th.

According to WSDOT, Cayuse and Chinook Pass are still on target to open Memorial Day weekend. If snow removal continues to go well, the passes may both open as soon as May 19th.  Stay up to date with WSDOT.

According to Mount Rainier National Park, Stevens Canyon Entrance is estimated to open for the season May 26, weather dependent.  As of April 28, the road crew has plowed to Stevens Creek area. It is open to foot or bicycle access, Friday - Sunday, unless otherwise posted as closed. (The road is closed when heavy equipment is operating, generally Monday - Thursday). Check updates here.

Sunrise Road is closed until June 30. It is open to foot traffic, but plowing has not been done past the White River Ranger Station.

Yes, the White Pass Scenic Byway is a beautiful drive... But, the best reasons to visit the byway are for the things you can do here, maybe even more than the things to see. From East to West, West to East, the byway offers World Class recreation.

For many visitors, from within the region or around the world, the Byway is a route for exploring Mount Rainier, Mount St. Helens and Mt Adams. For those in the know, either canny locals or niche outdoor enthusiasts from around the country, there are amazing recreational opportunities in all forms, all along the byway.

May 24:  Paradise Inn at Mt. Rainier opens for the season
May 26-29:  Memorial Day Weekend Packwood Flea Market
