April is National Autism Month

In order to highlight the growing need for concern and awareness about autism, the Autism Society has been celebrating National Autism Awareness Month since the 1970s. The United States recognizes April as a special opportunity to educate the public about autism and issues  of the autism community.  View new CDC report on Autism.

Prepare Your Family for Severe Weather

"When severe weather strikes you often have only a few minutes to respond and seek shelter. It is essential for you and your family to be prepared in an emergency," said Cherie Sage, Safe Kids Kansas. Safe Kids Kansas recommends becoming familiar with the type of weather you may encounter, prepare an emergency disaster kit, and practice your emergency plan frequently with your entire family.
Summer Camps

We encourage all parents to allow their children to take advantage of opportunities available to them.  It is time to be looking for those summer camp experiences to register before camps become full. Also, check out those summer activities for kids at your local college, recreation commission, and churches.

What to do when your child ingests poison?

It's time for spring cleaning and that being said we need to be aware that many common household items can be dangerous if they fall into the wrong hands.  Many of our children are on medications also, what if we mess up and give them to much or the child takes their own medication incorrectly? What is a parent/caregiver to do if your child ingests a poison?  Get help right away.

Frequently Asked Question

"Do we need to do a change of placement if they change my child's label?"

No, changing labels is not a change of placement.  The overriding rule in placement is that each student's placement must be individually-determined based on the individual student's abilities and needs.
