Feast of the Transfiguration of the Lord
August 6, 2017
We divert from Ordinary Time this Sunday with the Feast of the Transfiguration.  This Feast comes to us at the mid-point of Ordinary Time - an extraordinary encounter with God's word where we hear him say, "This is my beloved Son with whom I am well pleased; listen to him."

As you prepare for Mass this week, reflect on the Collect - the prayer said by the priest at Mass after the Gloria.  Although wordy and sometimes hard to follow, the Collect perfectly introduces us to the Liturgy of the Word.

O God, who in the glorious
Transfi guration  of your Only Begotten Son
confirmed the mysteries of faith
by the witness of the Fathers
and wonderfully prefi gured our full adoption to sonship,
grant, we pray, to your servants,
that, listening to the voice of your beloved Son,
we may merit to become co-heirs with him.
Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
