Bonnie Sue Lewis
Missional Church Primmer
Rev. Dr. Craig M. Howard
Transitional Leader of
Presbytery of Giddings-Lovejoy

I am excited about the keynote speaker and worship leader at our upcoming presbytery gathering. Dr. Bonnie Sue Lewis is the Professor of Mission and World Christianity at Dubuque Seminary. She is speaking to us about being a missional church. I thought it would be a good idea to do a short blog on what missional church means, and why we are learning about it in Giddings Lovejoy. Our Presbytery - Our Work
Weekly Prayer Basket Update
  • Please pray for our communities, our state, our nation and our world as we enter polling places to cast our vote, today.
What's Happening? Did you know?

  • Breaking All Ceilings...being a young, female, single pastor. Despite the improbability of her call last winter as pastor of historic First Presbyterian Church here, the Rev. Liudmila Hernández is supremely confident about her ministry, in Havana, Cuba. Read on here.
  • The Ninth Street Divide … Over 200 people gathered, last Friday, at the Galt House Hotel in downtown Louisville to join the 2018 National Gathering of Presbyterian Women in the PC(USA) peace and justice march. Drawing attention to “The Ninth Street Divide,” organizers hope the march raises awareness of the lingering effects of racism and discriminatory practices such as redlining that have resulted in segregation in Louisville and in many other cities in the nation. Read on here.

Please vote in the Primary Election on August 7, 2018.  Our vote in Missouri will play a great part in the future of how our nation will be governed.
There are many ballot issues both at the state and local levels that will impact our communities, state, and nation in the next generation. Here is a quick example from the St. Louis area:
·          PROPOSITION   A - Senate Bill 19   "Right To Work"
·          CHARTER AMENDMENT 2 - Would provide that the council may appoint an attorney to its executive staff.
·          CHARTER AMENDMENT 3 - Would provide that term employment used in the County Charter be strictly interpreted as prescribed in state law .
·           CHARTER AMENDMENT 4 - Would provide for the regulation of campaign contributions, the regulation of interdepartmental fund transfers, and a website to publish certain county financial documents.
Your community is important to us as well. If you aren’t sure what proposition, amendment or primary elections are taking place in your area, please click here and find out what you will see at the ballot box.
