May 2006, I participated in a guided tour through several neighborhoods in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina had swept through the city. Starting in the Garden District, our guide systematically led us, a group of nine, through neighborhoods bustling with joggers, commuters, and restaurant employees preparing for the dinner crowds. There was little noticeable damage in this area. Bit by bit, we meandered through neighborhoods and we witnessed the damage suffered by those living in the lower areas. Please continue...

Our Community Connected
Congratulations to Rev. Erin Counihan
Rev. Erin Counihan received the 2017 Community Volunteer Service Award given by the Tower Grove Neighborhoods CDC, which supports the area’s growth by promoting responsible development, affordable housing and diverse character and vibrancy in the neighborhoods surrounding Tower Grove Park.
Organ Concert

First Presbyterian Church of Alton, Illinois, located at 4th and Alby Streets, will host the renowned organist Dr. Marilyn Keiser, the Chancellor’s Professor of Music Emeritus at Jacobs School of Music,
Indiana University, in an organ concert on Friday, December 15, beginning at 7 p.m.
There will be a reception to follow.
Christmas Concert & Benefit

Grace Presbyterian Church, invite all to enjoy an evening of beautiful Christmas music performed by members of the Grace Presbyterian Church Choir and the Twin City Community, on Friday, December 15 at 7:30 p.m.
Immediately following will be a Cookie and Candy Sale to benefit the Jefferson County Homeless Youth Initiative. Directions found here.
Advent Vespers at Second Presbyterian Church
The Advent hymn “Watchman, Tell Us of the Night” lays the foundation for the Vespers readings and music. On Sunday, December 3, the Second Church Choir, Handbell Choir, flutist Jennifer Gartley, and organist Andrew Peters offer music to give listeners an opportunity to pause in the midst of the hectic holiday season.

Steelville Presbyterian and Sullivan Presby-terian will both host their community's Minis-terial Alliance for Thanksgiving services.

Missional Living Chat Hour
The First United Presbyterian Church, Belleville will welcome PC(USA ) Community Developers working in Asia, on Wednesday, November 15 and they would like to invite anyone in the presbytery, who may be interested in hearing them speak of their journey, to attend. The chat hour will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the chapel of First United-Belleville.

Woodlawn Chapel Presbyterian Church in Wildwood seeks a part-time music director/pianist to lead our congregation's music ministry. Primary duties include directing the chancel and bell choirs and providing piano accompaniment for Sunday worship.
