Hello Parents and Friends of Starmount Preschool!

The stomach bug has hit Guilford County and its schools pretty hard this last week and we are seeing cases of it here at Starmount Preschool. If you or your child has had it or you are having it now, I can tell you: it is no fun. Please remember the school policy regarding illness: A child must be free of all symptoms for 24 hours before returning to school. Please know that the teachers are cleaning with a Lysol and bleach solution all the toys and surfaces in the room.

Registration for the 2016-2017 school year will begin this Sunday (February 7th) for church members. Currently enrolled students may register on Tuesday February 9th I will be open to the public on Wednesday, February 9th. Due to me being out of the office sick for two days this week, the forms will go home in children's bags on Monday and Tuesday.

The annual Preschool Scholastic Book Fair is February 18-22. All proceeds help us put new books in each classroom. I am in need of some volunteers to help: If you are interested in helping, please let me know.

The Preschool needs your help! Triad Moms on Main  nominations are being taken NOW for the 2016 Choice Awards. Starmount Preschool has been nominated in each of the last five consecutive years, taking home the award in 2011 and 2013. We ask that you take a moment to nominate Starmount Preschool so it can make the ballot for the final voting. Help us communicate to the rest of the Triad what we already know: that Starmount Preschool is the Favorite Preschool  in Greensboro! For more information, please click here.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at anytime.

On Friday, we had to say goodbye to Ms Amy, as she takes a new position as a church administrator. We wish her the best in her next chapter. She wanted to share with you some words:

Dear Starmount Preschool families and staff,

I have been extremely blessed to be a part of this wonderful preschool for the past few years.  Thank you for the opportunity to teach, nurture and love your children.  As I move on to full-time employment, I will carry the smiles, laughter and relationships with me.  I wish you all the best and thank you for the appreciation and support you have shown me.  Hug your kids tight.  Until we meet again...

Blessings and love,

Ms. Amy
Three's Lead Teacher

Ms. Julia will be stepping in to take Ms Amy's place for the remainder of the school year.

Do you want to consign items, but you are too busy to tag them? Let us do it for you! This is open to current students only and all items must be dropped off at the school with a registration form the week of February 8-12. PASTOR KATHRYN'S POST:

"The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."

I have been thinking a lot about this quote as we enter this next week and would only need to alter it slightly: "The journey of Lent begins with Ash Wednesday."

As we enter a 40-day journey toward recognizing the sacrifice that Jesus made for us, we mark the start of that journey with Ash Wednesday. All are invited to Starmount's Ash Wednesday dinner, followed by worship, in the sanctuary, at 6:30. Childcare is provided for the worship service.

Then, for the four Wednesdays following, the Fellowship Committee is hosting Starmount's  Wonderful Wednesdays  program, whose theme for Lent will be "Servanthood". Come for dinner and stay for the program. Childcare is available for these programs as well.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email me or stop me in the hallways!

Blessings,
Pastor Kathryn
