 Dining Among the Dead

Citizen's Cemetery, Prescott
Would you like to dine with Arizona history? Join Sharlot Hall Museum and the Yavapai Cemetery Association at the Historic Citizen's Cemetery. This unique event will take place on the cemetery grounds with a catered Mexican-style dinner. Six "residents" of the cemetery will also be on hand to talk about their time among the living. Tickets are available for $45 but seating is limited, so reservations are strongly recommended. Also, please wear appropriate attire for dining outside and negotiating uneven surfaces. Prescott Western Heritage Days, in partnership with the Prescott Regulators & Their Shady Ladies , have joined forces to create an event that showcases Prescott and Yavapai County from 1864 through the early 1900s. This period represents the time when Prescott became the first territorial capital, Arizona became the 48th state, and the early statehood years.
In 2012, Prescott Western Heritage Days, was selected by the Arizona Centennial Commission, as an "Official Arizona Centennial Event".
Family activities will include gold panning, unique photo opportunities, cowboy and old-time music, cowboy poetry, period costume contest, Victorian fashion show, Tom Mix look-alike contest, mustache contest, , and numerous children's activities throughout the weekend.

Longtime arts advocate Gail Mangham gives a talk about Molly Ivins, beloved iconoclast, American newspaper columnist, author, political commentator and humorist. Gail includes anecdotes from her own life story to bring Molly's character into focus and shares the relevance of The Artist's Path Festival 2014.
Molly Ivins (August 30, 1944 - January 31, 2007), the iconic liberal voice from Texas, made us laugh even when we might want to weep. One of the most well-known political journalists in American history, Molly once wrote: "The thing about democracy, beloveds, is that it is not neat, orderly, or quiet. It requires a certain relish for confusion."
