Presentation ECC Weekly Update 01/08/2018
Our Lady of the Presentation
Early Childhood Center
ECC Families,

Happy Monday! It's our first full week of school since the holidays and I know it is going to feel like a long one! We will be focusing on fun classroom activities with the cold weather and try to go outside when we can. The last week of January will begin our Catholic Schools Week celebration so look for more information coming out soon. We will begin our enrollment for next school year for current students in February. Information about how you will enroll your student will go home in the next couple of weeks. Below you will find information about our procedures when there is bad weather and how to make sure you are signed up for our remind alert system. Don't forget our center will be closed on Monday, January 15th to celebrate the life of Martin Luther King Jr. Myself and all of the staff here at Presentation ECC would like to thank all of our families for the wonderful treats and gifts we received during the Christmas holidays. Your thoughtfulness was much appreciated. Happy New Year and we are looking forward to a wonderful 2018!

Center Closed January 15th
Presentation ECC will be closed on Monday, January 15th in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Remind Updates
Please make sure you have signed up for our Remind updates. This application will be used anytime we need to send out a quick update or reminders to our families. Information about how to sign up is included in the link below.

Inclement Weather Updates
Our center is does not follow the same closing schedule and LS School District or Presentation School. We will make our own determination of when to close for inclement weather. Our school will be listed separately on the news and we will send out a remind notification as well as update our website. Please make sure you are receiving text updates from Presentation ECC and not just Presentation school for those of you who have siblings in both locations. I will send out a test text today and tomorrow so families can make sure they are signed up. Below you will find a link with information about our closing policy.

Valentine Parties Change of Date
This is a reminder to families we had to change the date of some of our Valentine parties due to February 14th being Ash Wednesday. Our parties will be on Monday, February 12th for our part-time classrooms; Ms. Carlene, Ms. Kim C. and Ms. Margaret. All the rest of our classes will have their classroom parties on Tuesday, February 13th. If you signed up to be a room parent for this party please contact your child's teacher with your plans. Below you will find the classroom party guidelines.

Mini Pantherette Cheer Clinic
OLP Cheerleaders are hosting a Mini Pantherette Clinic for girls from the ECC (preschool/Pre-K) through 2nd grade. Practices will be held at OLP school. If you are interested in having your child participate you will need to fill out the registration form below and return to the front office no later than Tuesday, January 16th. We will have forms at the office if you forget.

End of the Year Tax Statements
Our Assistant Director, Teresa Button has been working on tax statements and all statements should be ready by Friday, January 12. The statements will be located in the receipt file box located in the front office. She will be adding them through out the week so please check back if yours is not in the file. If you are unable to locate your statement by Friday please email Teresa Button at tbutton@olpls.org.
Fighting Germs & Sickness
We need your help with fighting sickness and germs going around our school. This is the time of the year when sicknesses start popping up and getting spread through entire classrooms! We understand sometimes symptoms don't present themselves until your child has been sent to school, however we have more and more students coming to school when they are obviously not feeling well. We don't like sending children home sick, however we are trying to prevent infecting their classmates as well. Below you will find our illness policy as outlined in our handbook. In addition to a fever if a student vomits more than once or has diarrhea they will be sent home.

ILLNESS POLICY
We request that your child remain at home if he/she is feeling ill, has an unusual rash or diarrhea, is experiencing pain or tiredness that prohibits them from participating in a normal school day. If a child has an axillary temperature of 100.5 the parent will be asked to take the child home. If a fever occurs suddenly, the temperature will be rechecked after a 30- minute rest period. If the fever is still present, the parent will be asked to take the child home. If your child contracts a contagious childhood disease, please let us know so that we may communicate the outbreak to our other families. Please notify the preschool by phone if your child will be absent. Otherwise after 2 consecutive absences, the teacher will contact the family as to the health of their child. If a child becomes ill while at school they will be brought to the office area until the family arrives to take the child home. Presentation ECC is not a sick child care program. Sick children may not return to school until they have been symptom free and on medication for at least 24/48 hours. If you have a question about whether your child may attend or return to school with regards to sickness it is encouraged to contact Presentation ECC office staff before bringing your child to the center.
