Deadline Extended for State Plan Survey
California's current Statewide Historic Preservation Plan expires at the end of 2017. We are conducting a survey as part of the public input process to develop a new, updated plan for 2018-2022. Due to the enthusiastic response, the survey deadline is extended to
January 16, 2017.

Historic Preservation Fund Reauthorized
Included in the provisions of the Act is the reauthorization of the Historic Preservation Fund (HPF). Funds from the HPF are allocated to State and Tribal Historic Preservation Offices to help identify, preserve, and protect historic resources.

Tribal Preservation Report Published
The National Park Service (NPS) has released its Tribal Preservation Program 2016 Annual Report. From the report's introduction: "We are specifically honored to work with our tribal partners to preserve the unique cultures within their communities. The Tribal Preservation Program supports the mission of the NPS by partnering with tribes to preserve and protect our shared national cultural heritage."

First SHRC Meeting of 2017 to be in Sacramento
The State Historical Resources Commission (SHRC) will hold their first meeting of the year on
February 3, 2017
, in the Robert T. Matsui Federal Courthouse, Sacramento. The Commission is scheduled to hear eleven nominations for the National Register of Historic Places. Information about the meeting and nominations can be found on the

Nomination Forms Now Available for 2017 Awards!
Application forms and criteria for the
2017 Governor's Historic Preservation Awards are now available through the OHP website. Do you know of a project, organization, or individual that exemplifies the best in historic preservation in California? Submit a nomination! The Governor's Historic Preservation Awards is an excellent opportunity to give much-deserved recognition to efforts that help preserve California's heritage. The
